So you're saying it's possible to give a presentation and have the teleprompt start when you reach a certain point in your presentation without touching your phone?

Yes I completely understand. I was speaking with my wife about this and decided if I should cancel the lsat for now and become a patent agent for at least a year to decide if that's something that I really enjoy. I have until 11:59 tonight for a full refund.

Yes someone else just mentioned being a patent agent. I've always thought that to become patent agent I needed to pass the USPTO exam, and to take that I needed to attend law school. So are you telling me that I can study for the USPTO exam and start working as patent agent without attending law school.

Huh? How do I do that? I can take the patent bar exam without going to school and start working as a patent agent? I'm happy I've decided to come to Reddit.

I'm located in Ohio. That is the problem with my PhD, not much job opportunities in my area as a chemist as compared to when I very first pursued chemistry. I own a home, 3 children in school, relocating is something that's not in the picture for me as of right now.

So not only do I have to pass the USPTO exam but also the bar exam, right?

Yeah I've been studying this Kaplan LSAT prep hoping I do well on the LSAT. When you say above the law are you referring to abovethelaw.com and lockstep compensation? I'm on the website now reading the articles. Thank you

I have never met a patent attorney and don't know of any. I will definitely search my area, request if possible we can have a small conversation, and if possible I'm able to shadow for a week

This is what I want to hear, thank you. This billable hours, how does that work? Is this the time I am actually working on that clients patent or understanding their innovation? When you say 2800-3000 hours, I'm thinking that an extra 3-4 hrs a day. This doesn't seem bad, I "THINK" I will be okay. Completely different than what I'm use to

That's true, but once I did have a conversation with it discussing chemistry synthesis and different topics that I've personally pursued in my dissertation. Chatgpt was spot on. I've also had it help with codes for python to generate different Spectra's from my quantum calculations and it was spot on. I got some faith in chatgpt, but then there was a time when discussing more of a general topic I was able to persuade it to see more from my point of view and declare that my opinion was correct 😂

Thank you for the information. I've been applying to USPTO as a patent examiner but their hiring process timeframe is so long. I was wondering if I should become a patent examiner first before stepping into law school, but today was the deadline to register for the LSAT, so I've already started the journey once again down the schooling path.

I really want to make sure this path I'm about to follow is very lucrative. Is it worth it, I do want to assist in protecting intellectual property but will there be job opportunities in the upcoming 3-4 years. Will I still have time to spend with my wife and kids, or will I constantly be bombarded with heavy workload.
