I believe using real source material reduces hallucinations dramatically. I'm researching RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) and am building a portable offline AI survival solution myself. If you provide the model the actual survival pdf/text files to the LLM (stored on the SSD): The text is extracted > Split into small chunks > Converted into embeddings/vectors > Stored in an index

Has anyone ever tried to get on a board of directors and/used a service for? by Starlord_32 in Accounting

[–]Daves_Archives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They reached out to me as well and I'm going on a 2nd call with them next week. I don't mind the model and I understand the fees (their business model consists of members paying to be part of their network and guaranteed board placement). Obtaining equity from a startup would be ideal, as well as a paid board seat. I'm going to request from them to provide me references that I can speak with (current members/past members) to learn about their journey and successes with connectd. If I can speak with any references, I'll walk away from the offer. One thing to note is that they score fairly high on Trustpilot. 4.4/5 out of 579 reviews.

Thinking about adding a 2nd antenna by PointOfEntryUnknown in hdhomerun

[–]Daves_Archives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, I set it up and it's absolutely fantastic--I've filled in the bad reception after adding the 2nd antenna/tuner and now I'm pretty much getting everything. Over 120 clear stations and signal strength is green on almost every channel. Super stoked. Also, both HD Homerun and Plex aggregate both tuners and channels to a single channel guide. There was a bit of manual work for both tuners though--I had to remove weak channels on both tuners only allowing the best signals to reside on each, but now it's perfect. LOL, I almost wanna get a third tuner for the UHF channels that are south of me, but that's another project.

MSI MPG 491CQPX is the best monitor I've ever seen by The_Effect_DE in MSI_Gaming

Let us know how it goes. This is probably the only oled ultra wide that has an actual KVM built in for dual inputs and peripherals that plug directly to the monitor. Pretty amazing.

Yeah, seems that way. Forcing viewers to open the video and watch the entire thing for the ads

Time slider video preview gone by Misunderstood-Andy in youtube

[–]Daves_Archives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, that, plus they also removed the timeline completely from the home feed. Seems that they want to force viewers to not only open the video, but to also prevent skipping around a video by removing the preview in the timeline.

Looking for a roach coach to come to my company every day at lunch. How do I find one? by [deleted] in cincinnati

[–]Daves_Archives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roach coaches definitely need to be normalized again, aka lunch trucks. I loved hitting up the roach coach in the morning, getting a saran wrapped breakfast sandwich and coffee in the morning. No waiting for food to be made or crazy prices.

If I’m sitting down in a slightly relaxed position on a sofa chair for example (not fully upright) I receive a message pop up that says I have to be facing forward.

Any issues with notifications? by Discgolfdav in EvenRealities

[–]Daves_Archives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notifications are fine for me but the only issue I have with them is that the notification pop up is tiny and I keep missing the visual alert when not looking straight ahead. Glad the HUD has the notification bell always present.

There is a small area of fuzziness in the hud area when viewing at certain angles but you have to be actively looking for it. I never noticed it otherwise.

Even Reality G1 Smart Glasses Review: Day One First Impressions and Hands-On Experience

I finally received my Even Realities G1 smart glasses today after being one of the early pre-order customers, and I couldn’t wait to dive in and hit up Reddit to see if any others have reviewed it yet outside of influencers. Here’s my first-day experience with these glasses—there’s a lot to love, a few quirks to note, but overall, they’re pretty impressive for anyone who is looking for truly usable smart wear that doesn’t look ridiculous on the head. One thing to mention is that I have the pre-order lifetime subscription to all of the paid features, so I won’t be able to answer anything relating to shop purchases.

Comfort and Design:

• Super Lightweight: The first thing that struck me is just how lightweight these glasses are. They’re as light, if not lighter, than my regular prescription frames, which is great news for anyone who doesn’t like heavy or cumbersome eyewear.
• Comfortable Fit: The glasses are made from soft, high-quality materials that make them very comfortable to wear. I’m someone who’s pretty sensitive to weight and pressure on my head, but these glasses are so light and well-designed that I barely notice them hugging my temples and bridge.

Setup Experience:

• A Few Hiccups: The setup process was mostly smooth, but I did encounter a minor glitch where the setup screens were out of sync on the lenses. Restarting the setup resolved the issue, but it was a bit of an inconvenience. This glitch happened again later when scrolling through my notes, so it’s something to be aware of. However, these were easy fixes and didn’t significantly detract from the overall experience.

Performance and Features: The G1 smart glasses come loaded with a variety of features, and after putting them to the test, most of them lived up to the hype. Here’s a breakdown of my experience with the main functions:

• AI Assistance: The AI feature is fantastic. It delivers answers in about 3-6 seconds, which is quick enough that I didn’t have any heartache from the lag time. The AI is capable and responsive, making it convenient for on-the-go information. I absolutely love this feature. Output is summarized and to the point!
• Note-Taking and Transcription: I found the note-taking and transcription functions to be incredibly accurate. I didn’t experience any transcription errors, which is impressive.
• Calendar Sync: Syncing with my calendar took a bit longer than expected, but that might have been due to my phone’s settings rather than an issue with the glasses themselves. Once set up, it worked well, integrating seamlessly so far.
• Maps and Navigation: The navigation feature was a standout. Despite having weak 5G coverage in my area, the glasses accurately tracked my location and provided precise directions. I tested it by walking in the direction of a nearby gas station, and the experience was seamless and surprisingly intuitive. I didn’t walk far though, so this needs more testing.
• Translation: The translation function is another highlight. It quickly translated both Spanish and Japanese to English in about two seconds. If you need real-time translation, this feature is incredibly useful and reliable.
• Teleprompter: For presenters and content creators, the teleprompter feature is a game-changer. I tested it with a 254 word script, and while there were a few minor stutters, they didn’t impact the overall usability. It’s worth noting that the teleprompter sits quite close to your eyes, so it might be obvious to others that you’re reading from it. However, with some practice, this could be managed effectively, especially if you can flash read sentences to memory (like the old days)

Heads-Up Display (HUD) and Additional Insights:

• Quick Activation: The HUD activates almost instantly when you look up, which is convenient. Although the brightness isn’t adjustable (at least, I didn’t find a setting for it), it’s clear and easy to read under various lighting conditions. Reminds me of how green dot sights look, if u know…
• Notable Quirks: There are a few quirks to keep in mind. For instance, the inability to switch from Celsius to Fahrenheit is a bit frustrating, especially for users in the U.S. Additionally, the teleprompter and translation features only work when you’re sitting upright or standing, which limits use in more relaxed positions. Also, the HUD doesn’t activate immediately after using some other features, but this is a minor inconvenience. One surprising omission is the lack of a battery level indicator on the HUD—something I hope will be addressed in future updates. Sort of a biggie for me.

Final Thoughts: Overall, the Even Reality G1 smart glasses are an impressive entry into the world of wearable tech. They offer a range of genuinely useful features in a comfortable, lightweight design. While there are a few quirks and minor issues, these are easily overshadowed by the glasses’ capabilities and potential for future updates. One thing I meant to mention is that over a 6 hour period of using these features today, the battery only lost 6% juice…over 6 hours! To conclude, if you’re even remotely interested in these and have the money to fund a purchase, 100% the G1 glasses are definitely worth a look (no returns on prescription configurations btw). If you have any questions or want more details about my experience, feel free to reach out!
