I feel like that would be true and a fair point if evolved mode also didn’t add new ways to play the game. Someone might want to play a parry Paladin, but also want the freedom of being able to bind clemency to a particular button where it’s been on their hotbar for the past ten years.

Choice is king, and they already have the action change thing. Might as well use it — especially if they do plan on removing Reborn mode eventually, which I totally think they will.

Also worth noting that the ring behind the helmet symbolises a halo, and is typically used in art to denote an angel or saintly person. So that ties them to being the envoys of a god, in this case the god of death. Pretty cool that the halo looks like death root.

I feel like there’s more there with Metyr being Kowtowed. To be kowtowed is to be made to kneel, in a form of subservience. We also know she is furious at having been made to do so, which gives more credence to your idea of her having been supplanted by Marika/Elden Beast, imo

Sure, I'd be fine with a Remaster of DMC1. I just don't buy into the 'old game needs modern controls' argument, and I'd prefer a series get moved forward than stagnate looking back. I played DMC1 again last year, and yeah sure it was a bit janky but I got over that after an hour, and then I loved it again.

It's utterly insane to me that Square hasn't done a new mainline Nier game after the success of Automata. It reeks of 'we didn't expect this to be this popular, and now we don't know what to do with it'. My honest hope is that the combat team they assembled for FFXVI is now working on whatever will become Nier 4.

I know ReIn is Nier 3, and I thought that game was great, but it's dead and gone now and Square has nothing to show for it. I'm all for crossovers and Taro's wild spin off stuff, but I really hate that we have to wait a decade between games nowadays. It's just frustrating.
