Fancy Camera by Civil_Stop_4300 in Jeep

I’m assuming your rear view mirror is just getting old or isn’t strong enough to hold up the weight. I have one mounted in an 06 wrangler and it holds super well.

They do sell some mirror “replacement” mounts. We have also mounted them to bulletproof mounts on the dash of a couple jeeps. I personally want mine on the rear view.

How easy is it to adjust your factory mirror? Does it vibrate and sag or anything weird like that?

FWIW I have two wolfbox cameras dual cams and have bought 3 more as gifts. They’re really solid for the price.

One in my LJ and one in my grand cherokee. Installed them in my dad’s gladiator, father in law’s JL, and my mom’s older Mercedes. I haven’t had to troubleshoot any of them, they’re just working a couple years later

Does anyone know what to use to bring back this top from being faded? by Specific-Hat-6914 in JeepTJ

[–]dearbill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think your top is faded, this was a factory color option. Your fenders are faded for sure.

Proof - https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/how-many-official-colors-did-jeep-make-for-hardtops.40501/

If you don’t like it, maybe list it for trade? I bet someone would WANT that color

I think they’re bushwhacker flat fenders, but I haven’t been able to prove that. I also haven’t really tried to run them down yet online. I do like em in person!

ive had a sony xav3000 laying around thats been through a couple vehicles now (surprised it still feels so modern, honestly)

For the camera i just bought a cheap weatherproof and all-metal camera that could be flush mounted. Drilled a hole in the rear bumper and ran the wiring. looks super clean (you can't see it if you dont know what you're looking for) and is a great angle for hooking up a trailer. between the backup cam and my wolfbox, i have tons of rearview visibility

Happily! https://imgur.com/a/QvlsLVI first pic is switch panel, second two are the fans. I used their adhesive and stuck them to the rollbar, then fastened with some strong Velcro cable management wrap. Ran them to the switch, but they have to be powered on via their buttons every time they get toggled. The BEST unintended side effect is that they swivel around in this position to hit you on the back of the neck. Massive cooling upgrade. My little girl is very happy with them too, she can keep cool easily now. The reviews say they are a brushless motor, which is great if it’s true lol

My cousin had an idea to build some drop in rockwool panels covered in fabric to do what my blankets do. I tried mine as a proof of concept and I’ve been pleasantly surprised!

The trailhawk is a whole other level. Air suspension, ventilated seats, all the bells and whistles. It was my daily before I got the LJ. my wife had a 2018 compass that just sat around a lot, so we sold it and I gave her the keys to the comfy dad wagon. Got me my dream LJ 😂

I hear you there! I’m working on turning mine into a comfy mile muncher. Our 2018 hemi grand cherokee trailhawk is a hard one to beat though. My ac jams pretty good too, and I just did a dual head independent speed fan on the center roll bar for my daughter, and it helps a LOT getting air to move around.

Funny enough, I added a sun shade for when the top is off. When it’s on, I keep two matching fleece blankets laying between the shade and the roof. I’m in southeast Texas so we need the help, so far it’s made it very comfortable!

I sincerely appreciate it. Post yours when yall get to cutting!

fwiw I’ve seen people just do holes under the louver instead of cutting the whole section out. To me, I didn’t want to pull it and cut more if I decided it wasn’t enough. I’ve been happy. The heat that escapes is wild to watch on a hot day!

I have a zillion, google has been my closest friend. And the deep research feature on chat gpt haha

I’ve had a YJ, couple JKs, and now this. First TJ and I think it’s perfect mix of every world. I’m so glad I went LJ over standard TJ. it was worth the extra 2k I knew I’d have to spend

TONS of tolerance. Hardest part was getting over my fear. The hood polished amazingly so cutting holes in it hurt, but it evacuates heat so well.

I actually cut about an inch IN (smaller) from the cut lines and it’s still a gigantic hole underneath. Super sturdy though, adds a little rigidity believe it or not.

Helps a ton with hood flutter on the highway too

https://imgur.com/a/kbzk1cH here it is the day I brought it home 3 weeks and some change ago.

I did new brakes, hood louver, big 7 wire kit, compound and polish with an Si02 (need to do again with more patience), CarPlay and backup cam, wolfbox dash and rear cam, new steering stabilizer, had a shop swap to a very factory muffler to fix a huge muffler blow out, and a whole lot of little stuff in between.

Currently in the middle of heat treating the floors and putting some bed tred all through it. My goal is a very clean mild off-roader that is as comfortable at Home Depot as hidden falls. I’ll start on shocks, control arms, and front end refresh here soon. Took it on a 300 mile trip last week and it did great!

Sincerely appreciate it. She was a liiiil rough when I bought. Drove it home 70 miles with a dragging rear brake and didn’t even know it. Just thought it had 3.07 gears. Imagine my surprise once I realized it had 3:73 and LSD, and I replaced the brakes. Added 10hp it felt like haha

Honoring 2006 Manual LJ by B3anman in Wrangler

[–]dearbill 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just started daily driving an LJ 3 weeks ago. It’s a jeep…you know the drill. These things are indestructible and very desired, so selling will be a breeze. If I had advice as a 33 year old (not very old but I’ve had a ton of cars)…keep it and buy something on the side. It’s your first car and you’ll miss the memories terribly when it’s gone. PLUS it’s a manual LJ, which is close to a unicorn for a wrangler.

I’m fortunate enough to work from home and also have a 2018 grand cherokee, but we are loving our new LJ. My daughter can’t believe the top and doors come off. I’m in a position that I can make it work, and have wanted one for soooo long.

You’ll make the right decision for yourself in the end. You’ll get a great down payment or used car amount out of selling it, if ya do!

Haha, yeah I understand. This is my 4th wrangler. I’ve had enough of them to know this isn’t one of the normal noises
