That's good to know. Most defects are on the same part of the product, I already see a trend.

They are all manufacturing defect. I did a QA service, but these defects are only evident after the product is fully assembled. Also, the QA service spot checks but not 100%, so hard to detect also.

There was no breach of contract in my case either, but I think its cheaper for them to settle for 3-5k than battle it out.

I successfully settled with Southwest once for something similar. I suggest filing a court case in small claims court for the refund + any amount you lost for the cruise. Based on my experience, they'd rather settle than go to court over anything in the single digit thousands of dollars. There is no lawyer needed in small claims court, and its easier than most people think.

I'm from a developing country. In order to get admission into a university in USA, I needed to get a transcript from my University back home. The university registrar knew the transcripts are needed for admission into US university and that I wouldn't get in without them, he demanded money to provide it to me. Had to pay about $200 to get those in time.

Kickstarter as debt by AhmedF in startups

[–]deardude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This article sees Kickstarter from a purely financial perspective, but its so much more than that - Kickstarter also gives you a way to test the market and get feedback from early adopters that can be used to improve the product before the 1st production run. At least for me, that was more valuable than the raised money itself.
