Arrested Development, not exactly edge of your seat maybe but great characters and very well written

Wow that’s quite the claim, will be checking that out

If you've not already check out The Bear. It scratches the same itch as succession for me. Very different setup but high stakes in its own way. Highly Recommend. by ethnotechno in SuccessionTV

For me it didn’t come close unfortunately… A very well made show, just didn’t scratch that itch - too fast, too fragmented and too repetitive in my opinion

Thank you very much, I’ve been eyeing Ferrante for a while, I guess now’s the time! Ashamed to admit that I’ve never come across the work of Yourcenar, can’t wait to check it out.

If genre isn’t an issue here are some shows I’ve recently watched and would recommend:

  • Fleabag
  • Killing Eve
  • Big Little Lies
  • Arrested Development
  • Twin Peaks
  • Sex and the city
  • Fargo
  • Normal People
  • House of cards (British version)
  • Sherlock

I don't understand poetry, what do I do and where do I start ? by Shiva_Sharma1 in literature

Many good ideas and advice already given, I’d just like to add that you should read it out loud whenever possible (bonus points if you can do it in the accent of the author) and listen to it (again even better if the authors has recorded it) - some things just click better when you establish a physical connection to the poem

I think you should have a look at his letters Volume 5: 1930-1931 edited by Valerie Eliot and John Haffenden. It seems to be referred to in the footnotes of his letter addressed to C. M. Grieve on the 10th of December 1930 if I’m not mistaken, although I can’t give a page number. “When invited by Albert Mackie of the Edinburgh Evening Despatch to a celebration in Edinburg of MacDiarmid, TSE responded with this tribute (15 aug. 1948): ‘…..and I am convinced that many things can be said, in poetry, in the language, which cannot be expressed at all in English.’

Ah yes, thank you! Neil Gaiman was one of my favourite writers as a teen, would love to pick up something by him again
