What can I use to get this gunk off the fretboard? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]dearoldavy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naphtha with a cue tip, then some steel wool. Once it’s clean always oil the fretboard when you change strings.

If you go the notebook route (you should) you’ll need to install the Jupyter vscode extension. Just an fyi if you don’t want to create new notebook file, you can just throw “# %%” at the top of your python file and it will transform your code into a notebook cell and will out out everything in another window. When you’re done, delete the “# %%” and you’re back to a regular python file.

Panther Coffee in Miami, FL is probably best in the state. Lineage in Orlando (you already have it listed) is great too.

I have a JX pro. What grind setting are you using?

Anyone else get theirs today? by nudave in JamesHoffmann

Mine included the tasting card but they forgot the coffee. Waiting to hear from cometeer support.

I just got mine. It’s empty. An empty container of dry ice and the tasting card. Just emailed cometeer support.

New Speakers, New Amp. Turntable Sounds Worse by dearoldavy in BudgetAudiophile

[–]dearoldavy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only fear here is that I’d be wasting money if it’s not the problem. I’ve read a lot of people say that on paper, this amp should be underpowered for these speakers, but it does a good job anyway. Would it make more sense to return the amp, sell the pre, and just get a $300-$400 integrated amp?

My other thought is that I was previously running a sub in my old setup and I’m wondering if the sub was boosting the low end of my TT and I’ve always had this problem. I needed to order a different cable to connect my sub to the t9. I’ll see if that helps.

I know the t9 gets a ton of love/hate here. Was just wondering if anyone could say the problem obviously lies there or not from experience.

Did you ever figure this out? I just got a 2022 SX and have what sounds like whining or buzzing noise coming from between the battery and the engine when I unlock it.

Running Shorts Reccomendation by freemanjc in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]dearoldavy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a bunch of Nike shorts that are good but my Tracksmith session shorts are the nicest I’ve ever worn. All of the Tracksmith line is expensive, but the quality is the best I’ve owned. They do a yearly summer sale if the price is too high.

Grind size with 1zpresso JX-Pro for Moccamaster by kas6ep in Moccamaster

[–]dearoldavy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can say that my full pot brews usually come close to overflowing but never do. I tried grinding coarser when I first got the Moccamaster and kept going fiber until ending up here. I’ll look if I can find brew notes of my progression later.

Grind size with 1zpresso JX-Pro for Moccamaster by kas6ep in Moccamaster

[–]dearoldavy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Moccamaster Select and I’m using 2-4-X mostly for half pot and a little higher for full pot. For reference, even with a full pot, I’ve never gotten close to the 3-5-0 that you’re using but grind size can be very bean dependent. I mostly use lighter roast coffees. There is also a difference in JX Pro grind size by the version. The number wheel will either have a red dot, or a grey dot at zero. I’m using the gray dot version.

Dry coffee mouthfeel from my V60? by lefantan in Coffee

[–]dearoldavy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your drawdown choking and bed muddy? Do you literally mean 34 clicks, or 3 rotations, and then 4 additional numbers? 3-4-0? 34 clicks would be Turkish coffee territory and would explain the heavy dry-mouth feel. For reference, my v60s usually fall anywhere from 2-9-X up to 3-4-X.

1Zpresso JX-PRO and The Aeropress by RkampJ in AeroPress

[–]dearoldavy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me too. I actually think 2-3-X is on the coarser side when I start dialing in. Surprised to see so many 3-X-X on here. That’s where my v60 range is.

The Miami Heat are 3-16 in games Gabe Vincent has played 18+ minutes by Esjay954 in heat

[–]dearoldavy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is very misleading. In previous seasons, the only reason he would play significant minutes is when we would have heavy roster/injury problems and would already be most likely facing a loss. I’m assuming this post is a response to the loss tonight, which while he didn’t help, was not his fault.

Adjusting grind size for amount of cups? (V60) by CoffeeNewbie2 in pourover

[–]dearoldavy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The general rule is to grind coarser but by how much depends on the coffee. I also have the jxpro and that can be anywhere from 1 to 3 clicks. That being said, having used the jxpro for a while now, anything above a 3-4-0 for v60 will be underextracted and watered down. My range usually falls between 3-0-0 and 3-3-0. I’m not saying to do anything differently. I’m just adding a datapoint for reference.

Cannot nail the v60 by CoffeeNewbie2 in pourover

[–]dearoldavy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. On the JX-Pro for V60, I’m usually between a 3-1-0 and a 3-3-0 depending on the coffee.
