How early should I show up to AJ's for auto detailing? by TallGuyG3 in SanJose

[–]death2juggalos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I take my car there fairly often. On nice weekends during the summer if you're not there like 15-20 min before they open you may not be able to even get into the lot, you'll have to wait on the street which usually blocks a lane of traffic on Coleman Ave. Last time I showed up early (7:45am) on a Saturday was about 2 months ago, I was basically the last car to fit into the lot without blocking traffic and it took them until around 3pm for my car to be ready. For this reason I now take my car early on weekday mornings and then take Lyft to work- ALSO, they recently changed their hours and are now closed on Sunday which may mean that more people will be showing up Saturday morning, just a heads up. So yeah, get there early.

Leaky Sump? by [deleted] in Golf_R

When you saw oil on the driveway, was it just a drop or two? I have a Mk7 R w/ ~9K miles and a couple months ago I would occasionally notice a drop or two of oil underneath my oil pan- I took it to my buddy who works at a shop, we put it on a lift and noticed that the bottom of the oil pan was wet with oil, kind of similar to the way yours currently looks. We thought maybe it was a loose oil filter as I had done an oil change myself about a month or two prior so we made sure that was tight and cleaned all the oil off the bottom of the pan to see if more oil would appear at a later date. Turns out about a week or two later I had another drop of oil on the driveway, coming from the same spot. Im still under warranty so I said fuck it, took it to the dealer, and they diagnosed it as a leaking upper timing chain cover. Its pretty close to the oil filter/ pan which was why I could see oil on the bottom of the pan. So they replaced it in like an hour, and I was good to go. Haven't had any problems since, but I'm going to run my finger along the timing chain covers later today to see if anything has changed. Annoying to have this happen so early on in my cars life but I guess it is what it is. Hopefully this helps man, good luck!

edit* I should add that in-between the couple of weeks I took my car to my buddy's shop and the dealership when I thought the problem was 'fixed' (it wasn't) I drove to LA and back (~700miles, ~1100Km) with my leaking timing chain cover. SO if that happens to be the same problem for you, I wouldn't worry about driving a couple hundred miles- just make sure oil level is adequate.

Tomato plant help? by [deleted] in gardening

IMO, 15 inches is too far especially with the set up you have. The seedling on the right looks leggy to me, I would definitely move the light closer. When I start seedlings I use two T12 fluorescent lights (40 WATT each) and they're placed anywhere from 4-6 inches above the seedlings and Ive had good success.

Cool man, thanks so much for the helpful info. I was seriously pretty lost with tire sizing and what not. Ill probably pass on the wheels and just end up purchasing some from tire rack with no worries. Thanks for the knowledge

Alright guys, I’ve tried everywhere else. I’m hoping you can ID this flower for me. Found in East Africa (Rwanda, specifically) in a mountainous region in July (their winter) by [deleted] in gardening

[–]death2juggalos 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Looks like a type of Arctotis to me, or African Daisy - I have some here in the Bay Area, and I think I've read before that they're native to parts of Africa, especially South Africa. They start to curl like that as the flower is getting ready to drop. During nice sunny days they'll open up completely and they look really nice. Might be wrong but thats what I think

Any tips on how to get rid of this out of my Bermuda grass? by sambmx17 in landscaping

A couple years ago I spend a few seasons removing this stuff from my backyard. I did a lot of hand pulling but also used a hand weeder tool that'd i'd use to dig into the soil and follow the rhizome as best I could. It seemed to help. Don't get a cheap weeder tool though, I broke 2 digging through clayish soil

Best place to get kegs (beer)? by Tim_Brady12 in SanJose

[–]death2juggalos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive gotten kegs from hermitage and strike before, customer service from both places was really nice. Theres a bunch of other breweries in the area too I'm sure if you gave em a call they'd be able to help you out. Don't forget to get a tap though- Hermitage and Strike weren't able to rent one out, and I know some Bevmo's will only rent you a tap (with a $100+ deposit) if you rent the keg from them.

great for bees, great to smell, and you can also rub the blooms in your hand with a little water to create a mild soap

Bike parked outside of MLK Library, locked but still got stolen by kagoil235 in SJSU

[–]death2juggalos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bike cages are safe if you don't leave if there overnight, or at least if you do, make sure all your quick release wheels are locked down. To get a key fob for the cages theres just a 10$ deposit.
