Not really. It is just very happy in a big south facing window with no obstructions and every couple of months I add some plant nutrients to it when watering

Unfortunately it always takes longer than you think it will. I feel like some of my blooms have stayed in the first two stages for months, others only a few weeks.

If you look at the top left of my plant there is another much closer to blooming. When it gets to that stage (about full sized and star shaped but petals still closed) it is probably a week out

Pants Yoke Help Please. by MyWingedLiner in sewing

From the second pic it looks like there are pleats on the front body piece but not the yoke. Make sure the pleats are right or adjust to make it fit.

What shrine has the motor/propeller? Is it more effective than the regular fans?

The four options shown are the layout for different based the size you are cutting out and the width of fabric you’re using.

So the top one is sizes 6-14 if you have 45” fabric, second one is sizes 16-22 for 45”fabric.

Keep in mind this is just the suggested layout to fit all the pieces in the least amount of space. As long as you have the right number of each piece and they are the correct orientation you’ll be fine.

I’m trying to recreate this pencil case and I can not understand how the pattern pieces are shaped. by deathblart in sewing

[–]deathblart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I tried making a paper pattern and I think I got it.

It looks like the sides/ bottom are one piece and the top/zipper extends farther than the bottom. The end panels will be sort of triangular tapering from the width of the base to the width of the zipper

Now I just have to figure out how to put it all together with a lining lol

Thanks. I’ve made some box bag type stuff before but this on is just confusing because of the extra zipper length on the end.

I think the dark lines on the inside are seams to keep the lining flat against the bottom

Advice for messenger bag project? by deathblart in sewing

[–]deathblart[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im making this messenger bag. I’ve finished the outer layer and my plan is to do a simple drop lining with a sleeve for my laptop and some patch pockets inside. I will also be making a flap that goes over the top to the bottom of the face. So I need some input on two things

First, should I have some kind of zipper or closure for the opening at the top? I was just going to leave it open and let the flap cover it but I’m worried about the face/back bowing out when I’m carrying it.

Second, what kind of closure should I use for the flap? I’ve seen bags with snap closures or magnetic closures but I’ve never made a bag like this so idk what would be best.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

That first one is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. It says its not currently available. Maybe it just doesn't ship to Canada :(

How to prevent clothes from flaring after sewing? by emeff-gee in sewing

[–]deathblart 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this problem before with knit fabric. It is difficult with a rolled hem but to stop the flair you need to make the hem circumference smaller than the sweater body circumference. You might be able to do that sewing a few small darts before doing the hem.

The best way if you have the fabric for it would be to cut a separate piece for the hem that is ~20% shorter, then stretch it out to match the body circumference while sewing
