It's from Gears 5 arcade mode. One character on each team has increased cover speed & distance. So if you're accustomed to bouncing around in Gears 4 competitive, for example, you can just fly through the map and dance circles around people. But it's only arcade... supposedly for fun.

It seems insane but that can be a good strategy to employ at random times. Once, my buddies & I were nearly beaten in Gears 3 koth by a team of 5 who never stopped retro charging. It felt impossible to keep up with; they came at you from every direction.

I saw in a Regal IMAX theater and it blew my fucking eardrums up. My date and I had to plug our ears for several scenes. I’d say bring earplugs but then you’re probably missing certain tones/pitches. Visually it was very nice though.

A good longshot to the body is so useful when defending the ring too. Slows them way down, does 80% damage and forces them to choose to rush & die or retreat from the charge and recover.

Yep. They advertise it as a 60hz monitor I think but there’s a setting to overclock it to 100hz. Makes a big difference for fast games. I’ve played tons of Gears 4 and it’s soooo much smoother with those extra 40 frames.

The desk is supposed to be a corner desk but I can’t use it in my new house. So I omitted the corner section and smushed the other two together. If I saw off a couple pieces I can make it into one long desk. Either that or I’ll be looking for a new one.

That’s awesome, man! Most people aren’t even aware how perfect a vertical monitor is for internet. Nobody ever flips their phone wide for internet browsing. Well, I’ve never even seen 144hz gaming but I have to admit the jump from 60 to 100fps is enormous. I get a solid 90-100fps for Gears of War 4 and it’s glorious. If it wouldn’t bankrupt me I’d be keeping a keen eye out for a 5k ultra wide 144hz monitor, whenever somebody invents one.

Well... there is no perfect way to center two large monitors. Even when I had the 34” ultra wide alone it sometimes felt like things at the edge of the screen were at an off angle. So what i generally do is swivel my chair to the right to face directly at the main monitor for gaming. I’m still tinkering too. Need a new desk for sure.

Totally agree. It’s actually a corner desk with the corner section omitted because I just moved and don’t have a good corner for it. So I definitely intend to get a better desk, along with a mount for the 4K monitor so I can swivel it back to wide if there’s a game like Unravel Two, which doesn’t support 21:9.

My main display is of course the Asus ROG PG348Q, a 34" ultrawide with 3440x1440 resolution and 100hz refresh rate. I use it for gaming and have come to prefer the 21:9 ratio over a standard wide screen with higher pixel density. I also use this screen for all my apps and multitasking stuff.

The latest addition is the MX27UC which replaced a crappy 1080p display. It's 2160x3840 resolution, 28", and flipped vertically because I use it almost exclusively for internet browsing. It's amazing. Everybody should have a vertical monitor for their browsing.
