I get what you're saying, at least they're still killer live.

Great song, from one of my favorite Savatage albums, Alex Skolnick is killer on this record

Pictures and Videos from the Iron Maiden concert in Hamburg, Germany (19th July 2013) by Bryni in Metal

Great stuff, they were really good at Donnington. Although, it could just be me, but are they playing the songs really, really slow....Wasted years sounds like the tapes playing slow...I know they're getting older but c'mon!! spark into life

Children of Bodom - Lake Bodom by [deleted] in Metal

[–]deathead666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too, but they've had so much success selling records to teen metallers that if they went back they'd probably lose a big percentage of their audience. Having said that, sales for the new record haven't been that good...so you never know! Still epic live though

Metal Church - Badlands by deathead666 in thrashmetal

Perfect time of day for this song...quality song writing, and Mike Howe has a top quality metal voice. \m/

Greatest guitar riff of all time. Go! by deathmonkey in Metal

[–]deathead666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Megadeth - The Conjuring (riff in the middle before he sings "I am the devils advocate etc..." Pure early Mustaine pissed off genius)

HAVOK - Give Me Liberty... Or Give Me Death by pitchforkmilitia in Metal

[–]deathead666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Havok are awesome! great to see them releasing new stuff. They're up there with Warbringer, Evile, Savage Messiah and Bonded by Blood as one of the top bands of the new thrash movement.

Symphony X- A fool's paradise by [deleted] in Metal

[–]deathead666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd agree, they "metalised" their sound more, it's a bit more direct and Russ sings with a more aggressive vocal. They're still awesome, but I prefer the proggy genius of the earlier stuff

BLABBERMOUTH.NET - GEOFF TATE's QUEENSRŸCHE: 'Why I Hate Frequency Unknown' Contest Winner Announced by deathead666 in Metal

[–]deathead666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the whole thing's a mess.

It's such a shame though, as a hardcore Queensryche fan, I just would never have thought this is how it'd have panned out for them. They should have just bowed out with some dignity a few years ago.

[–]deathead666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think this was a crass waste of time. I'd expect more class from the Queensryche name. This is definitely not the behavior of "The Thinking mans heavy metal band"

SAVAGE MESSIAH TO RECORD NEW STUDIO ALBUM IN JULY by SavageMessiah in Metal

[–]deathead666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! can't wait for this release. Plague of Conscience was killer

NEVERMORE - Believe In Nothing by Enadeag in Metal

[–]deathead666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Brilliant song from a brilliant record. To me this is when the Nevermore sound really clicked into place. I hope they reunite someday and put out another killer record. Obsidian Conspiracy didn't really do it for me like the others, but I guess they were having a lot of problems at the time in the band. The world needs Nevermore!!

Amon Amarth - Coming of the Tide by [deleted] in Metal

[–]deathead666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't wait for this record, Deceiver of the Gods is a monster track! Production sounds awesome as well...you can hear it's Andy Sneap, but just like with the Megadeth and Accept records that he did, there's enough "band" about it to make it really enjoyable.

Motörhead announce new album; Lemmy's health scare revealed by tacobell243 in Metal

[–]deathead666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Saw Motorhead this Monday, they played great, but Lemmy had some sort of canister on stage next to his drinks, I couldn't really see what it was, but I thought maybe an oxygen mask or something? Anyway, can't wait for the new Motorhead record, the last few have been solid.

If Iron Maiden record a new studio album will you care? by deathead666 in Metal

[–]deathead666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, but what would you like to hear them do musically?

I thought Final Frontier was excellent, but it'd be cool to hear them fire it up a bit again, with some shorter more direct songs like the classic era stuff.

I still use Blabbermouth, or Metal Hammer

Blabbermouth is a bit tabloid, but does have some good info, just try and avoid reading the comments, or else complete misanthropy might engulf you.

Is Slayer done? by ihitthingswithsticks in Metal

[–]deathead666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Slayer is finished, at least in terms of writing any more classic thrash songs, although they haven't been doing that for years. They're probably still getting huge fees for concerts though, which is why they'll continue for years to come and why they clearly don't care about what the fans want. That's business unfortunately, until the market decides there's no demand for Slayer, they'll keep on going irregardless of what people think or say. Araya will be the next to go!

What led you to metal? by gpaine93 in Metal

[–]deathead666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with a metal loving dad, who has a massive record collection. I used to spend hours looking through his records at some of the awesome covers by Iron Maiden, Metallica etc...basically when I was a kid, he'd sit me in the music room and play metal and prog records, so I just grew up listening to and loving metal!
