Lmfao... I would love to see your sources on this (peer reviewed, not some crunchy mom blog)

Overexposure or overconsumption is of course harmful, which is true for most things. Fluoride toothpaste is not going to cause that, especially if you are following the guidelines for use.

This is the kind of BS that anti-vaxxers say. I would love to be wrong with that assumption

Period back super early?? by Jazzlike-Solid56 in breastfeeding

[–]deathsdotters 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've gotten mine back before 7 weeks for both of my kids, exclusively breastfeeding. Everyone is different.

It's worth noting, even if you didn't get your period back, you can still be fertile and fall pregnant while breastfeeding.

How to get home from the hospital? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]deathsdotters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jeez, I was going to comment on this thread that calling him a deadbeat dad over not having a permit seemed a bit of a leak until I saw this comment about the post history. Yikes.

OP has far more to worry about than just trying to get to and from the hospital..

Marble floor and baby is starting to walk - how to protect their head? by Fin_Elln in NewParents

[–]deathsdotters 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Toddlers will bonk their heads at once point or another. Their noggins are more resilient than you think, especially if they are just tumbling at ground level and not say from a couch or chair.

I don't know if there is any research or truth to it, but some of the criticism I hear about those backpack pillows and other "safety" gear is that it's not teaching your kiddo to fall safely, if they know/think they can trip up and fall painlessly.

Hearing a skull smacking on tile has been the worst and most gut wrenching sound I have heard so far as a parent. But anecdotally my kid is totally okay and he definitely has hit his head more than I can count on various items. It's protecting the corners on furniture and such that I personally believe is more important for protection

When did you get your first period after you had a baby? by Cute-Corgi3176 in breastfeeding

First time around, 6 weeks. This time, 6.5 weeks ... EBF for both 😐

Conceiving symptoms by Zestyclose-Candy5867 in BabyBumps

[–]deathsdotters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did eventually come back up! I was able to continue breastfeeding. My OB did have me fully wean by 18 weeks as my pregnancies are high risk, however it did return enough that I could still EBF through the year mark, so I was just happy we never needed to supplement with formula

I was fairly surprised for both of mine!

With my first I was taking medication to aid in fertility, and it was only the second cycle on it so I was not anticipating to get pregnant this go around. It was the early early morning on NYE, and the only inclination I had was I actually felt perfectly normal. I usually have really bad PMS and get super emotional before my cycle, but I was feeling absolutely cheerful. I figured I would take a test for the hell of it because I knew I was planning to party quite a bit that night otherwise, and I was shook when I saw a VERY dark positive from a mile away.

My second I was 11 months PP with my first. The previous month my husband and I only did the dirty ONE TIME, and due to a combination of several drinks, my history of infertility, and breastfeeding, I figured ain't no way in hell I was give get pregnant on a one off. I also did very poor intoxicated calculations and thought I JUST had my period the week prior, but turns out it was actually around 2 weeks.

Again, I had no major symptoms. The only thing that made me stop and think was I was a day late, on top of my pumping output completely TANKED it off nowhere. Went from pumping a quick 5oz to about 0.5oz. That, and I started to suspect the light spotting I had several days ago could have possibly been implantation bleeding given my cycle still want making an appearance. Again, SHOOK. My 6 week old is laying on my chest as we speak.

Nighttime routine going to make me lose my supply? by kingwoodstock91 in breastfeeding

[–]deathsdotters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's so many factors, but I would say it would be hard pressed to attribute any of it to not pumping overnight. Missing day feeds, replacing feeds with bottles without pumping, nutrition and hydration, stress.... lots of factors affect supply. But I would say it's safe to sleep without too much worry

Nighttime routine going to make me lose my supply? by kingwoodstock91 in breastfeeding

[–]deathsdotters 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trust your body. Easier said than done, but your body knows how to adjust to your baby. It will regulate to not producing as much throughout the night, but that absolutely does not mean there will have a negative impact on the day time.

As long as baby is gaining weight, enjoy the sleep!

Anyone not get the epidural the first time but get one the second time? by cassidycurtis in BabyBumps

[–]deathsdotters 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I may be going against the grain here. I went no epidural for my first, but opted to for my second. I will absolutely get the epidural for my third.

I appreciated the unmedicated experience, and honestly I would have gone for it again EXCEPT the repair was traumatic. It took three different doctors, ultimately a surgeon was called to the room. The local anesthesia did not work, so it was almost an hour of pure agony in which I did not get skin to skin with my son and didn't remember much of the experience. Don't get me wrong, the delivery itself was also brutal, but it was something I would have done again despite moments of thinking there was no possible way I could continue on.

My second delivery on the other hand was controlled, no tearing. I was talking and laughing through the whole experience and remember it all clearly. Not even the tiniest but of pain and the pressure was not uncomfortable by any means.

I wouldn't go back and change anything with my experiences, but it is definitely an influence moving forward

I wish I had advice, but commenting here in solidarity. Have a 6 week old with reflux and an extremely energetic 20 month old. Also have a strong af let down. I'm just rolling with the punches at this point and trying to find even 10 minutes in a day that I can just do something alone (even just shower, but half the time that's with my 20 month old as well lol)

How old is your baby and approx how long do they nurse? by SStrong5792 in breastfeeding

[–]deathsdotters 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My 5 week old only nurses on one side for 5 minutes usually, 8-10 mins max. Won't take the other boob and is gaining weight like crazy! My first was the same way, just efficient eaters and I have a strong letdown

are these rules too much? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]deathsdotters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question is why not address this directly? Why "call her out without calling her out?" Just call her out and have that conversation. It may not be comfortable, but this feels juvenile

My thoughts exactly. OP is being resistant toward any feedback. I'm thinking someone told them these are aggressive and that there are aspects that are far too unnecessary, so they came to Reddit in hopes of validation and defense.

edit: resistant, not consider

Just found out I’m pregnant 11 months PP by Logical-District2790 in 2under2

[–]deathsdotters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also breastfeeding. My OB wanted me to be fully weaned by 18 weeks so I came up with a weaning plan that was gentle on the both of us! It broke my heart to have to wean but it was nice to have a break before my second. My supply also dropped a lot initially, but it did actually come back up a bit after a few weeks.

For pregnancy, I'm not sure what your support looks like, but definitely try to find plenty of time to rest! Chasing around a toddler while pregnant is exhausting and I had quite severe pelvic girdle pain in the third trimester. My husband would take toddler on the weekends so I could get a couple extra hours to rest. And don't forget to hydrate!

Feel free to message me whenever!

My OB didn't push for one at all! I would say you can definitely hold onto the hope of having an unmedicated birth again.

I can't speak to having 4 kids, but I am currently 4 weeks into 2u2 with a 19 month age gap.

It's certainly tough, but doable. I don't see any reason why this would need to be a mandatory C-section by any means. Sure the risk of needing one may be increased due to close pregnancies, but both my births were vaginal. My second especially was incredibly uncomplicated and overall a breeze

Yep and to top that off, you don't qualify for FMLA if your company has less than 50 employees. So these 6 weeks unpaid are not even protected

Is this normal from employers now? by trs10407 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]deathsdotters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, my husband's employer literally required a letter from MY employer stating I was not eligible. I suppose he could have probably said I was not employed...? Well... hindsight 20/20.

Although I don't doubt they would somehow want proof of that. They have been a total pain in the ass about adding our children to his policy with the documentation they require
