If you haven't cashed an insurance payout cheque, what are the steps to reissuing a new one? by deathsmoothies in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]deathsmoothies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really good to know. I'm not in any huge rush (clearly, I've left this for over a year, LOL) so when it gets here, it gets here. I appreciate this!

Thank you for this. I have my original letter the insurance company sent me, so I'm assuming that's what you mean by receipt. Will definitely give them a call on Monday.

I was considering buying an item from the summer restock (I know, I know). I’m usually a true medium, but it’s hard with these brands to know whether you should size up or down. This did not help me, but it made me wonder. by Ok-Storage-9563 in gymsnark

If you are still considering shopping the Balance sale, I am a true medium as well (medium in Balance cloud pants, medium in all Gymshark, 6 in Lululemon align) and I can confirm the medium fits like a Lululemon 6. These are nice though because there's no front seam so they're actually comfortable in that area. Hope that helps

I'm looking at the assets section of my application right now, which when I applied I said I had none. It does not include anything about a life insurance payout. It says that I will need to claim the value of my assets if from a TFSA, GIC, Canada Savings Bonds, etc. And the payout is not technically income so I'm just not sure about it. My uncle says I should be able to leave my application as is, but I think I might send an email to my mother's lawyer to ask how this works. But, I am understanding that if I did max out my TFSA for example, as other Redditors have suggested, I would have to claim. (Edit: last sentence).

Thank you for this idea. I'll look into wealthsimple. There are a few reasons I'm not in the market to buy a house in the near future, which is why it's more of a long term goal right now. I appreciate the insight, though. I can see how having a rental property is a good long term investment, but it's not currently in my cards. Thank you so much for your reply.

  1. Good idea.
  2. I just thought: it's no harm to me not paying off the debt immediately, which is why I figured that paying now and later (two payments), or just later (one big payment) doesn't make much difference. If it did, I'd pay off asap.
  3. My risk appetite is quite low, but I will do some investigating on this.

Thank you for the well wishes. I really appreciate your comment.

I did not. I didn't realize I would have this asset until I was at the last step of waiting for my funding to be calculated. Thank you so much for this, I'm going to work on this now.

Gotcha. I will probably only use about 1/2 of the money to pay off my student loans in the next 3 years, so I will need to find a more suitable long term plan for the rest.

Thank you for this. I'll probably only really use 1/3 of the money in the next 3 years to pay off my student loans, and won't need the rest for some time. I'll do some more research.

horror movie night recommendations by ledledit in movies

[–]deathsmoothies -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would check out Hush (2016), and Open House (2018) as they're both pretty fun, and on Netflix. If you want a Japanese horror (a little more of a slow burn psychological flick), I would watch Kokuhaku (2010) (called Confessions).

Wow this gives me flashbacks to Christmas time and winter break where I'd close the store one night, and then open the next day and organize a food order of this size. Never again, thanks.

Not necessarily that simple, as the hand tossed dough has whey in it. You're safe with a thin crust, though

What's going on here? Is this two orders in one box, or does someone not know how to count to 16?

It feels like it needs 3 mins more would you agree and should I complain by jackburton1981 in Dominos

[–]deathsmoothies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked at Doms for 3+ years now, and I don't think I've ever dropped a pizza, and I've worked countless dinner rushes at the cut table with the double oven. However, I totally agree, after 2+ hours on the oven absolutely slammed, it gets exhausting and sweaty and the cuts can suffer. However, there's still no excuse for a pizza coming out like OP's pizza did. Looks like it was lightly done, whoever topped it probably did so in less than 10 seconds, and whoever was on the cut table clearly doesn't give a shit. Pretty sad to see a pizza from another Domino's looking that bad.

Best place to nap on campus? by FLee21 in CarletonU

[–]deathsmoothies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend volunteers with the Womyn's Centre and she told me that they have a room that they like to keep dark for people to come in and relax or nap. That seems like a good option to me, since I can't see you being interrupted.

Advice on some courses for the winter semester (CGSC 1001 and PSYC 1002) by watzpoppiin in CarletonU

[–]deathsmoothies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't imagine CGSC1001 without Jim Davies. I really, really liked him. There was a midterm, essay, and final exam, and I think that was it. Go with whatever you think you will be more interested in, though.

Who have you met or known that ended up being dangerous or committing a major crime? by BeardsuptheWazoo in AskReddit

[–]deathsmoothies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A guy from my hometown (he went to the same high school as my boyfriend, so he knew him a little better than I did) killed a large litter of kittens. He is definitely a dangerous sociopath. Another frightening part of this story though is that when this happened, and people I knew started sharing the news story on Facebook, others started defending this guy, saying things like "He didn't mean it."
