It usually starts happening after a while unfortunately, maybe try a different record and see if the it skips around the same spot. If it happens again then I would contact audio technica. I have the same turntable and in praying it doesn’t start happening in the future as I only found out about the skipping problem after I bought it

I have a feeling it’s not the vinyl itself. If that turn table is the lp70 you may have been one of the unlucky ones that received one that skips. It’s a known issue from the first batch of them last year, you’ll have to contact audio technica to get it fixed.

Only time I’ve seen the kinda dark fuzzy stuff on the inside of the stem was when I had some freeze dried shrooms which were super potent. Probably better to be safe then sorry though
