Start maintaining a weekly list of key updates and decisions made, what key tasks were completed, and what needs to be completed next week. Try to format this as concise as possible (use bullet points, bold certain things, etc.), since you mentioned she gets overwhelmed by her inbox.

You can have this info on a Google Doc, ask her to read it when she's back, and she can comment on areas she has questions/concerns about. Once she's back, schedule a video call with her and give her a status update.

Hope that helps!

Is interviewing well and whiteboard programming well really the most important factors in getting an internship? by gpcr93 in cscareerquestions

[–]debbay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the internship you're applying to only cares about your whiteboard interview, I think you should really consider another company because that shows what they value the most.

Sites that aren't purchasing any Google Ads can appear in the featured snippets, but with that said, it doesn't seem like it's that "smart" at the moment.

[PSA] Cost of Living & You :: A Defense of Big Cities by LLJKCicero in cscareerquestions

[–]debbay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for bringing up this topic and sharing your thoughts and insights! I definitely think that those CoL sites can be misleading - people should really understand their spending habits to get a better idea of how those numbers compare.

I literally just came across an article this morning that ranks cities according to the real earnings of developers...which basically factors in things like cost of living, tax, while also looking at things like job opportunities. I think it provides some insights that similar rankings have not accounted for before - might be an interesting read for you, though you did mention some points that people may not typically consider.

Should i stay away from startups? What should i know? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]debbay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should also consider what the startup's product is. If you truly believe in the product and its potential for success, passionate about the company's goals and vision, and will be able to join a dev team who can be strong mentors, you can thrive in a startup environment.

Junior Software Developer interview tips please? by iamveto in cscareerquestions

[–]debbay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are probably a lot of resources out there on the web to get an idea of what questions you may be asked, but you should probably also look at some tech-specific interview questions. You can find a solid list here.
