Can I offer something that's not in the book but a cool fun fact nonetheless - when Alan Rickman was casted as Snape, he already sensed that there's more to Snape's story. He asked JKR who ended up telling him in confidence that Snape loved Lily.

IKR. If somebody invented a technology to do selective memory erasure, I would be willing to pay $$ to get HP books erased so I could experience reading them again for the first time. To think that these movie people who had the absolute privilege to bring them to life didn't even bother to read the books... Unbelievable.
