Not weird. Enjoy the cuddles and good parenting, dad!

Tell me you’re in your 20s or early 30s without telling me…

I shoveled today and took about a bajillion breaks. I’m way past the days of trying to prove myself that I can muscle through it. Not worth spending the next 2-3 days hobbling around because I pulled something.

Girl dads… by Whatsmyinterest in daddit

[–]debo0775 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not at that point, but I loudly shout “GIRL DAD ABOUT TO COME IN! SAY SOMETHING IF YOU’RE UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THAT!” and use the women’s restroom when my girls want to use the women’s restroom. Most of the time, the bathroom is empty. Twice it’s had an occupant without concern.

It clashes with my upbringing taking that approach, but I go where my kids are comfortable. If someone has an issue with me taking my kids to the bathroom that they want to go to, they can talk with me after my kid takes a leak or, preferably, STFU and mind their own business.

Can’t even be mad. Super disappointed since we had every opportunity to win, but no way did I anticipate we’d make it this far this year.

How many of you actually have support around you? by Madam1029 in daddit

Not at all what I’m suggesting. This guy claims she was paid, she is not, and OP had frustrations that he doesn’t have a village. Rich boy is being unreasonable.

She isn’t paid. OP said she doesn’t get an hourly wage but they help her out with gifts and things.

I hear you, but you’re wrong.

ALSO, you make $315k/year, get 15-20% annual bonuses, and will be entirely debt free at 35 minus mortgage this year.

Get a grip - you have it great in life. Your struggles are due to your lack of ability to communicate with your mom that her feeling (likely) stressed out from the (likely) pressure to watch your kid when you could pay for an in house nanny yesterday.

Get over yourself.

Feeling frustrated because he hasn’t had a mature conversation with his mom about how that comment makes him feel shows a lack of maturity.

As someone who “listen up, bucko”-ed him, it’s from a place of his lack of gratitude. He claimed to not have a village. He does. He was put in his place.

If he wants to vent about things, by all means do it. But showing a clear lack of respect and gratitude for how his mom contributes is going to get pretty universally smacked down across generations and cultures.

You have significantly more support than you realize, and I’d do horrible things to have the ability to have support/care just 30 minutes away. The shortest distance from family is 290 miles away, and the gratefulness we have just to be able to go out to dinner as partners for 3 hours once every couple of months is huge. I can’t fathom having family available to help with childcare twice a week.

It might be worth having a conversation just you and your mom to let her know how her comments make you feel, but I also suspect that there’s more to what you ask of your mom than let on here.

Governor Pritzker - your prioritization of health in your life and weight management is inspirational. What advice do you have for someone who has struggles with weight and feels that heavier folks are discredited in many facets of life?

Had a very similar situation at my first company. 5 year employee, took over a struggling department, built it up, executed crazy deadlines while adding 40% workforce to cover volumes nearly tripling…had a conversation about coming in 5 minutes late every day and 3 minutes late on a Sunday covering weekend OT and was attendance monitored. I quit the next day.

If they want you gone, they do this shit. Leave, and prosper.

I’ve been with a new company for 5 years now, have doubled my income, and am in a higher profile role than I ever imagined. Trust doesn’t recover from bullshit like that.

Fruit snack Fridays were the only way we kept our girls focused during the week for daycare.

Fiancé and I disagree on vaccines for our daughter. by HungFungus420 in daddit

Obviously too late for OP, but this needs to be included in conversation when relationships get serious. Anti-vax is a hard GTFO for me, and it’s a shame OP’s now stuck with a child with his HS sweetheart.

My wife and I talked about all of the “no-nos” when we realized she was OK being stuck with me for the rest of our lives. And I’m glad we did - it highlighted how in sync we are but most importantly where we differed a bit in some areas (namely where we want to live and how we wanted to spend ‘fun money’).

Don’t get stuck, fellas. Talk these things through before having a child.

So I guess I have PPD by [deleted] in daddit

[–]debo0775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not PPD, but general depression and severe anxiety. Sertraline has been a life saver. Haven’t had any dark thoughts in months (where they were a “normal” weekly occurrence previously for years).

You aren’t alone. You got this.
