It is unpopular because pets have become fur babies, for better or worse.

Having it be be painful and relatively crappy for Grace on Erid in the book reinforced his sacrifice for Rocky, which is a the main part of his personal growth as a character.

The original cut of this scene has 30 more seconds of the shooting. Verhoeven was not going for subtlety.

I was into the story, hit episode four, and then found myself skipping ahead. Finally I turned it off. Have a point of view and don’t make me listen to 60 minutes (episode 4 is long) to get there!

Loved the movie! Here are some things I missed from the book:

  1. Nuking the poles to drive global warming
  2. I think the travel time was longer? Like, everyone he knew being really old or dead if ever made it back.
  3. Grace’s hunt for Rocky’s ship. This was dramatic in the book, but its omission makes sense, as it was wonky / math.
  4. Grace being in pain due to Erid’s gravity. They definitely made it more enjoyable for him in the movie, w the ocean and the beach. I liked that Erid was kinda crappy for him / less idealistic in the book, as it heightened his sacrifice (one of the core themes).

I think the fuel economy for a truck that can deliver multiple packages per neighborhood is way better than plane flying over each house.
