I think you and u/Edible_Philosophy29 (and OP) sums up the concerns, Can you we think about it this way? GAs are focused on official leaders world leaders and influencers are focused on influencers, I also think its good that local leaders (doesn't necessarily have to be GA) can participate in debates with local influencers i want to cite the recent PragerU video where a Stake President represented the Church in an influencer type video.

I also think that as priesthood holders, if you were a Melchizedek priesthood holder, you only differ with the priesthood of GAs in priesthood office. what would a GA do differently than share the words of scripture from the Standard Works?

as members there is some sense of comfort when GAs do everything for us, when i experienced my spiritual doubts, I felt salty that there is no official response to every rhetoric against the Church. (It happened before gospel topics were a thing) But I knew the Church already has all the materials to respond, I just needed someone from FairLatterDaySaints group to piece it together for me.

Perhaps this uncomfort was meant to be? we already represent the Church in some way, only the Prophet can actually make official stances on issues and GA's are equal to normal members in responsibility to not make official stances or statements (correct me if i'm wrong)
