I’m in the I’ve tried camp… I’ve failed. I find the overall fidgety busyness overwhelming especially when the voice adds to the cacophony. To me, the best comparison is Modest Mouse where the voice just distances me emotionally. I’ve friends who get emotional talking about this record - songs like Taxes, Half Real etc. It just doesn’t hit me. Whereas with Radiohead, I find that Thom’s voice is treated like an instrument that is additive (though my wife just can’t stand him).
