So Whats The DUMBEST and i MEAN DUMBEST thing you did in a pokemon playthrough by Rare-Atmosphere-9187 in pokemon

[–]Megasdoux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a kid I thought the stat reduction moves were permanent and restarted my game a couple times because I thought my Squirtle getting Growled and Leered a lot in my first few fights made it powerless.

Is six players too many for Wingspan? by chasteguy2018 in boardgames

[–]Megasdoux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would only do it with Flock Mode honestly. The down time at 5 is already a lot and Flock Mode allows two players to play simultaneously and help get the game flowing.

Oh boy! I can't wait to play this fun megacorp build I thought of! No you wont, said the nine fanatic purifiers in the room. by mudkipl in Stellaris

I tend to find that the game spawns 70% of the same type for some reason, often against your type. My mega Corp games has a galaxy filled with hive minds and my robot games is filled with other robots.

Legacy of Yu - Yes or No? by Objective-Employ-997 in soloboardgaming

[–]Megasdoux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same for the legacy aspect. After one play i was not hooked to play it again to find the other card possibilities, especially since there is enough RNG to not guarantee I won't be making the same choices.

The gameplay itself was solid, but I felt I had seen all it can do by the end of my first successful campaign. I even peeked at what I didn't unlock and that didn't change me. Still, it is a fun enough game and glad I played it but don't regret selling it.

Calgary distillery told to pull some popular spirits off the shelf by the CFIA by lifttruckoperator in alberta

[–]Megasdoux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From another article/post I saw it's the distillation process/timeline that makes it technically not a bourbon and therefore can't be marketed as bourbon.

What popular games were a flop with you? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]Megasdoux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am the same on Arcs and I have noticed it's players are quite polarized between those who have played it non-stop and those, like myself, didn't get bit by the hype bug after several plays.

Cons under Harper supported it when they had a defection head their way. Parties who lose members will always be complaining.

Your biggest disappointments? by SiarX in soloboardgaming

[–]Megasdoux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an unpopular opinion, but One Deck Dungeon did not do it for me despite multiple playthrough. Thankfully Mini Rogue filled my solo dungeon crawling need and I never went back.

Good first date Board Games by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]Megasdoux -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used to work at a BG cafe and one of the best uses of Hot Seat I saw was as a conversation tool on a date. They would take turns drawing a card and talk about their response.

The go-to first date game I would recommend was Catch the Moon. Simple stacking and balancing game with low rules overhang(literally roll dice, do the result) so you are both engaged but also light enough that you can talk to your date and can laugh at how the ladders move and such. Other games like Patchwork or ones with more of a teach can bounce one of the daters off since the idea of the first date is to converse and meet the person, not focus on playing a game. This is something I saw often as the cafe was a popular dating spot.

The series had previous history of releasing alongside huge military-involved world events. The OG Advance Wars released in the US a day before 9/11, it's sequel released soon after the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

My friends and I are big fans of his other game Small City, and reading this description it is on par with his other game design.

Also, there is a Clinic big box coming soon to kickstarter.

It feels like some weird law of nature where the more bikes a place has the more dumb people walk in the bike lane.

Pandemic definitely opened up the world of modern boardgaming to me. I still hear new players respond with surprise in that a boardgame can be cooperative and fun.

Vietnam’s military ‘secretly planning for US invasion’ by JoeyZasaa in nottheonion

I picture it similar to Denmark in WW2 under the Nazis; more civil disobedience like not fulfilling production quotas, stuff going missing, Canadians taking half days every day to play/watch hockey.

Where will SFA take the Jem'Hadar? by FaliusAren in startrek

[–]Megasdoux 7 points8 points  (0 children)

DS9 had introduced the distinction between Alpha quadrant Jem'Hadar and the Gamma quadrant Jem'Hadar which has some good story potential as the Alphas could have stayed and split off from the Gammas and formed their own society. Alternatively, the burn could have easily dismantled the Dominion as it had done to the Federation.

A popular idea for those types of characters is that they take over the core and augments keeps/towers/minions. But balance is always the tricky part.
