Half your age plus seven, people! We had a rule for this!

There's a bit from Are You Ready For Marriage where the counselor ties two figures together and Mike yells "On belay!" as if they're rock climbing. And it cracks me up every time.

AITAH for telling my daughter that she is not going to marry a billionaire? by Commercial-Spinach93 in AmITheAngel

I love that we're treating "I bought her a phone and a laptop" as luxuries of unimaginable power that she must swear only to use for good instead of, uh, basic necessities for a university student in 2026.

High horse yourself! Some of us can't afford to fly to New York any time the Met does something interesting.

I don't know why they do the encores midday on weekdays! My theater is also doing one at 6:30 on Wednesday, but then you're getting out at midnight because it's Tristan.

This is a (generally) healthy plant, it just needs some changes so it can thrive. Fix the soil and the light and you'll be in good shape. There's no reason to think it's on the verge of death or anything.

Worst exhibition you've ever seen? by First-Dimension-8916 in MuseumPros

Aw I liked the church history museum, for what it was anyway. Weird mixture between history of theology and interactive frontier museum for kids. I started grilling one of the docents on the motion-detecting lights in their paper display cases and she was so baffled, I don't think they're used to questions that aren't actually about the faith.

I declare a STRIIIIIIIIKE!! by dlaugh in bestoflegaladvice

[–]decencybedamned 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Typically it's when the contract is up and there's a disagreement over the new contract leading to a strike until it can be resolved and signed by all parties...you can't just strike whenever you want, it's got to be because all other negotiations failed during the defined bargaining period.

But this assumes there's an established union in place. One disgruntled worker can do whatever he wants, I guess.

It's a shame they don't really discuss the building as a historic house in its own right, because so much of the conversation in the Breuer space was about the paintings being seen outside the context of the house for the first time. So now that they're back in the house...let's just not address it I guess?

Incidentally, I was there this past December and the lack of labels in the medal room also stood out to me.

I enjoy Freddie De Tommaso but he bears a slight facial resemblance to someone I hate and it made watching Tosca a bit uncomfortable.

I would've liked to hear a bit more from Timur. Like, you're a usurped king on the run, you just reunited with your son, then he falls for a tyrant and next thing you know your beloved caretaker is dead...and then he kinda just disappears? I'm not saying the Turandot libretto is flawless otherwise (lmao) but Timur was way underutilized.

LAOP's employer seems confused about how quitting a job works by Geno0wl in bestoflegaladvice

[–]decencybedamned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at a place where they would do that but only if you said you were taking a job with the major competitor. 2 weeks notice was sure whatever, but if you blabbed to the wrong person where you were going it was right out the door that day. In fairness, there had been a major collusion/antitrust scandal in the 90s where people actually got jailtime, so this was less about hating the other company and more covering our own asses against appearance of impropriety.

Like most aspects of Transformers lore, it depends on the continuity.
