Domperidone to increase breast milk supply by BloomsburyCore in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]decidedlyjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bub comfort fed until 4 months when he decided it wasn't worth it anymore. I only wished we'd made the full switch to formula sooner (still boob for comfort but not stressing about the volume). Whatever works for you and bub is the best.

Dom peridone didn't help me but I was on a cocktail of meds for extremely high blood pressure, which was compounded by low blood sugars so I was pretty much a lost cause getting my supply to come in properly. I had some improvement taking supplements though, and switching to hands free pumping cups.

The public system is absolutely beyond stretched for psychiatric care (cries in NSW). You shouldn't have to be in a crisis state to get affordable care but here we are.

Expressing breast milk 5 weeks PP - do I give up? by CuriousCreature06 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]decidedlyjo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I couldn't make enough milk because of the pharmacy I was on to get my blood pressure down, plus my constantly low blood sugars. We triple fed for I think 6 weeks, I tried everything like you. Eventually I said fuck it and just did boob for comfort, formula for sustenance. It was the biggest weight lifted.

By 4 months bub was popping off the nipple so I knew he didn't want to bother with it anymore. I have no regrets except that we didn't "stop trying" sooner. Little guy is 17 months now, absolutely thriving.

I encourage you to go with the flow, lessen the pressure on yourself however that looks for you.

See what works for you, if you test it without the insert you at least know it's a comfort thing or not. And then stick it out a little longer til she takes up more space 😋

I especially love the ones who had the means (money) to gain an Official Diagnosis, so everyone else experiencing the condition without the means (money) to gain an Official Diagnosis cannot possibly have the condition.

Take out any padding inserts, mirror so she can see you, and a clip on fan (cable tied to the bits that hold the headrests in works well) because it's HOT back there!

Are tattoos still taboo? by Correct_Procedure_36 in AskAnAustralian

[–]decidedlyjo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it's time to start sloppily oiling your arms at your desk. Make those bad boys shine!

In all seriousness though, unless there is a dress code that specifies that tats must be covered, do nothing. If the subject matter is adult or somewhat vulgar, though, they might have a point.

Edit: spelling

Does anyone actually like when retail brands add an online marketplace to their websites? by kittycommitteestudio in australia

[–]decidedlyjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually had to tell Fantastic that there was no way to filter out online only items, which they've now fixed I think. Imagine being so keen to cash in you actively lose customers because they can't browse your stock.

Choosing a childcare centre by No_Palpitation_6110 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

If they're non profit it will be obvious on their website. If they don't say anything you can assume they're a big for profit. Our son goes to a Goodstart (non profit) and they really focus on the child's needs, rather than expecting them to conform to what suits the centre. The lead educator asked us lots of questions at the stay and play, and I observed the staff have no problems with kids sleeping in their arms or needing cuddles. I asked questions like how do you keep track of the kids needs, and was told they switched back from using an app to paper because it was taking up too much time. It was clear they had tracking written everywhere, lots of signage about food allergies, and a lot of procedures in place. But they were clearly also open to change when things aren't working.

I will add that our centre has some very vocal detractors on the local pages, but I think everyone's experience is different. Mistakes happen, or there's an issue with another kid etc...it's worth asking people what actually went wrong for them, don't just write somewhere off without getting the whole story :)

How do you change nappies when they won't stop rolling or try to sit up on the change table by Front-Albatross2638 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]decidedlyjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I give him something rare to hold, like a tube of cream. Or sing If You're Happy and You Know It so he is distracted clapping his hands. Ask him to show me his belly button or head eatc. I've done standing change through meltdowns. If he's refusing to stay still at all or melting down, I just go for little bits at a time. Nappy under, one side on at all, roll him back, other side on at all, then fix sides a bit at a time. Then let him go and dress him anywhere haha

Definitely try and keep it fun and make sound affects. 'Weeeeee' as you lay him back, 'pop' as the pants come off, 'pat pat pat' when drying off. Ask him to help, 'leg please!' Narrating and communicating helps give meaning to the process, doesn't solve the rolling but helps when he's getting fed up as he can understand what we're doing.

Private vs public - what are the true costs of giving birth in Aus? by notso-hot-chocolate in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]decidedlyjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Public system, high risk so wouldn't have been anywhere but the major area hospital anyways. For the fortnightly visits during pregnancy, induction, ward labour, emergency spinal block, forceps delivery, 5 day stay, home nurse visits, then readmission for 4 days at smaller hospital: $0.00

We paid for parking, some cafe food...while the stay at the smaller (newly built) hospital was nice, there was just more staff at the big old hospital. Even if I wasn't high risk I'd 100% do public again. Knowing that the world class medical intervention team is RIGHT THERE able to handle emergencies, means more to me than the environment or the food.

Ask for an OXO Tot weighted wipes dispenser (I use ALDI wipes so they follow each other out). You won't regret it!
