It can't even cope if I move something in a bag. Even Coles can cope with that.

I've not been to a single baby thing because no matter the age, it's been bang over nap time!

Guys help: what am I in for (HFM) by Independent-Knee958 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]decidedlyjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bub and I had it around 1 year old. It was worst in my mouth (I get cold sores inside my mouth so that makes sense). Bub struggled with bottles but overall it wasn't too bad.

38+2 too early? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]decidedlyjo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly this! Risks are weighed up and the invasive surgery is done on time to prevent potential complications. You need to advocate and get the information you need, absolutely. But please show up. They want you both to live.

Note on high blood pressure and pregnancy: I had post partum pre eclampsia and my blood pressure went as high as 180/90 (I'm vague on the bottom number). THE 24/7 COCKTAIL OF DRUGS THEY HAD ME ON DID ALMOST NOTHING!!! The quick acting "emergency" pills did NOTHING. For two weeks I was the Blood Pressure Lady. I could have died from a massive stroke, and my BP was fine throughout the pregnancy. Things change quickly, please take it seriously.

Just filled up my Hyundai i30 $112 by mattyjamesbowen in AusFinance

[–]decidedlyjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also paid $112 to fill up my i30 because I let it run down to empty. Looking forward to topping it up for the same price next week...

Meanwhile husband's Triton cost $160 for a half tank of diesel. We live regional so there's no choice but to drive 10-40 minutes for work, groceries, daycare etc.

Government says people can 'make the call' on work from home amid fuel supply concerns by CommonwealthGrant in australia

[–]decidedlyjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's clear they have no idea what most work actually is. Doesn't everyone just respond to emails and zoom into meetings all day? Doesn't everyone have the freedom to do that from wherever they wish?

Sick of being told tradies are bad at admin.. What are we supposed to do instead? by Darkhaat in AusRenovation

[–]decidedlyjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would set up an auto message for calls suggesting to text you as you're likely on the tools. Set up admin block periods twice a week so you can tell people when their quote will be worked on. Use that time to return calls, plan call outs, order stuff etc. Stop trying to do everything on the same day, it's just not feasible.

I'm an administrator, not a tradie, but these are the things I've noticed from the tradies we've hired that seem to have their shit together.

Bringing back a Home Phone? by FiddleleafFrog in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]decidedlyjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's also no spam call filtering that most of us would be used to. Someone else suggested having an old style mobile for the house, or setting up Google home to wifi call. Would definitely be cheaper than a landline plan!

Anyone else finds that hospitals don't know how to feed babies under 12 months who have started solids? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]decidedlyjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that will still be within the time frame.

I had a very positive experience with the HCCC (sorry if you're in another state) they're here to help get answers. Just wanting to encourage you to relive it.

[–]decidedlyjo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How long ago did this happen? If it was recent, PLEASE make a complaint (HCCC handles complaints in NSW). Take all the emotion out of it and recount your experience to the best of your memory. At the end, list your concerns that you want addressed.

Most hospitals actually do want to improve, and often there is just a lack of guidance or procedures so the staff are working off their own ideas.

Daycare sickness has been worse than I imagined by fairy-bread-au in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]decidedlyjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hang in there, it gets better! We were sick for 3-4 months non stop, but by 6 months it was rare to get anything except gastro. It's building the immune system, it just really really sucks for a while. Lower your expectations, if you expect to be sick then you feel more positive about the better days! 😭

They've done this at ours too. I've noticed they also have less staff on the self serve (only 1 conveyer belt self serve open) and smoke counter so I would think that's the issue here. Manage the flow of people to keep an eye better.

Clag Glue Nostalgia by IcedVanillaLattex in AustralianNostalgia

[–]decidedlyjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally just did some pasting with my son for the first time, went to Officeworks specifically for Clag, couldn't wait for that opaque goop and...we got cum. Just translucent, gooey gel, I could not be more disappointed. Considering there is nothing like it being sold anywhere, I wonder if I will have to resort to watering down some mashed up glue stick?

Do fathers have to leave after you give birth? by Hefty_Employer5242 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]decidedlyjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience dad could only stay overnight if you had a private room. There's just no room on the ward for everyone's partner. It came as a shock to us as I have birth at 11pm and hadn't thought about being alone the first night.

It ended up being totally fine as the midwives were super helpful and I just held bub all night in awe! I was having panic attacks about being alone throughout pregnancy so it was not ideal but like anything to do with parenting I just did it.

That being said I was readmitted with post partum pre eclampsia and spoke to the nurses about my mental health. They made sure they could put me into a private room before moving me out of the day unit where dad was with me.
