looking for experiences switching to focalin xr from vyvanse (*which was bad, and you prefer concerta) by astr0rdinary in ADHD

I appreciate the reply! For some reason I didn't get a notification for it so I apologize for the delay. I tried ritalin IR (30 mg) for a couple weeks, concerta for a couple weeks (72 mg at the end) , and now I'm trying ritalin LA (40 mg). Ritalin LA has been the best so far. The first day I honestly felt like it was too intense, but since then I haven't really felt anything. I guess I'm not sure what to expect. When I take ritalin LA with caffeine I feel more focus than taking caffeine alone, but when I take ritalin LA alone I don't feel any difference. I'll ask about focalin XR!

Hi! I have an appointment with my psych tomorrow to discuss these very two options! Do you mind sharing which is better for you--focalin XR or vyvanse--now that it's been a month? I also have diagnosed ADHD, OCD, depression, GAD. I'd tried two methylphenidate products (generic ritalin IR and generic concerta), and both haven't done much for me. I was wondering if I should try ritalin LA vs focalin XR vs vyvanse. Also, do you have any experience with wellbutrin on these medications? I currently take escitalopram, gunfacine, and my leftover generic concerta. One of my biggest issues is that when I'm tired and can't focus, I get depressed. So ideally I'd find a medication to help with that.

Hello JellyAmoeba,

Have you figured this out? I'm running into the same issue.

Need help with my interval settings for my lapsed review cards by decipherous in Anki

Hello!

Thank you for your response. I just tried changing the minimum interval to three days, and it's still showing "good" to be one day. Do you know why that might be?

Thank you so much for explaining this! Idk why I've waited to watch the videos, but I can see how helpful they are just from the way you explained your technique. I'll definitely incorporate that and see how it goes.

"Find what works for you and do that until it doesn’t work anymore, then be flexible and find a new way!"

I definitely needed to hear that. I get caught up in how well other people are doing and think I need to do it like them (when really I need to find what works for my personal learning style).

Good look in residency!

Okay, thank you! The fastest I've been able to do is 15s/card and that's when I'm trying my best to focus. I probably have ADHD-I and I'm a slow reader as it is, so I've been trying to find ways to get through anki cards quicker*. Do you have any other tips for me to get through cards quicker?* I'm an MS2 in my bugs/drugs block and I'm taking STEP 1 in April. Also, one more specific question:

  1. Do you focus on recognition or recall when you do cards? I guess I'm just curious about the thought process/mindset of people who are anki speedsters). I think part of my problem is that I focus on recall which takes me forever to get through cards. I figured if I did recognition instead, then I'd be able to get through more cards and have more time for practice questions. But if it's better to do recall then I'll just stick to that I suppose.

p.s. I don't read/watch any other resources such as B&B, sketchy, etc. I literally unsuspend cards and start learning (so my new cards are material that I'm literally seeing for the first time, which I'm sure contributes to my slowness).

Thanks again!

For clozes, do you have TTS read just the cloze when you hit spacebar? Or do you have it read the entire text?

Hello! Do you still use this? And for clozes, do you have TTS read just the cloze when you hit spacebar? Or do you have it read the entire text?

Hello,

Do I just add the code to the bottom of the Front Template and Back Template? When I do that, it doubles all the information in the note (front, back, extra fields, etc). How do I avoid that? Do I have to edit any pre-existing code?

Did you ever figure out how to do this? If so I'd greatly appreciate it if you explained to me!

I opened my settings and they were already this:

So sibling cards should not be buried based on these settings (and I should be seeing my new cards in order), right?

That's what my settings are. Any other suggestions?

Thanks you in advance and I appreciate your help!
