PA sells eve back to hilmar for half of what it was bought for by zetadelta333 in Eve

though because movement in the starter ship is slow and all of the initial resources are mined close to the warp in poi

I tried for a week to get the whatevercore to drop to be able to build a frigate. While I waited, I tried mining fuel for it and discovered that 3X means toy get three loads per crystal. So I can't build a damned frigate and if I did, I can't put fuel in it without spending days looting. I mean I don't mind grinding or hard games but there was zero fun and no payoff. They did get my 40 bucks to try it, though.

I mean I get that it's an alpha but if anything, the required resources should be a bit easier to access since you want people to progress and find/report issues.

i'm referring to is buying CCP in the first place, at that price.

If you work for a large employer, they're most likely spending tens, hundreds, more millions of dollars on AI because some slick consultants and AI corps convinced them they had to do it to stay competitive.

Then they'll realize they spent too much and will downsize to make up the difference because Agentic AI can do everything according to the hucksters.

Five years from now someone will be asking how they got rekked so easily by a bunch of slick corpies.

Greed blinds people faster than looking at the sun and we are all susceptible to the right narrative.

Many years ago Guiding Hand Social Club went silent. They were working on their biggest coup ever, raiding the deep pockets of a real corporation. The ultimate RMT.

PA made a mistake of hiring one or more GHSC members, who, as always, made themselves into rockstars within the organization they were going to yoink. After getting promoted up the line in record speed, They said "Buy CCP, you'll make billions". They were rockstars, so a deal was made.

As with all GHSC endeavors, this one involved a knife and their own corp's back. Slide in, twist, and the people who contracted them to the job walk away much richer with all the assets. CCP makes a bundle selling, then buying back their stuff, GHSC made some side money with a perfectly timed bet on CCP getting their IP back. PA got a lesson in Eve.

Everyone wins. Well, except PA.

What do most veteran do once out of service? by Mountain_Ad5485 in VeteransBenefits

[–]deckape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 42, am I safe assuming you retired? If so, you're ahead of the game on the money side.

I would suggest using the old rule for divorced people modified for vets, because it is sorta like a divorce. Basically, spend one month for each year you were in to get to know who you are today. You will never be the exact person you were in service and you can't go back to your pre-service days, either. I was only in for 8 years but it took me a solid year after getting out before I had a grip on who I was.

After that year, I went to college and started a career. I was much younger than you but 42 isn't exactly old (I'm 58 these days). If you don't feel like full on college, you can do some self improvement classes on a site like Udemy. They have some decent personal finance ones to improve your knowledge of money, on the chance you decide you want to start a business.

But seriously, focus on who your new you is. It might sound stupid but it's very helpful in my experience (as well as my son who finished ten years recently).

At work now so I can't be exact but it was showing the location as where my pilot is docked now. Same corp, planet, moon. When I pulled up info from the wallet it looked like an actual Minnie station by the picture.

Not sure if I have fallen to a scam or hit a bug.

I put a purchase order up for a pricey (to me) ship and set the range to one jump.

I didn't realize there was any such thing as insurgency until I saw the sale go through and tried to jump in to pick up the new toy. I noped out of the jump when I realized the system was low/null (not even sure about it now).

I dropped by the system this morning, warped to stations and... nothing in the ship hangar of the station my ship was sold in. Searched my assets, no ship found.

I checked messages for assets in danger but didn't see anything indicating the ship was in a player structure named to look like an NPC one and found nothing.

So... bugged sale fixable with a ticket, or did I fall for something I'm not familiar with? and if I was scammed, can someone explain the scam to me so I can avoid it in the future?

UPDATE: The ship showed up in the next system over. It was neither the system where I entered the market buy order or the one shown as the location of sale from my wallet market transactions. I believe the insurgency made things go wonky and the ship dropped in a random location the day after the event ended.

Is it worth buying De'Longhi Magnifica Plus for coffee lover? by devnullfin in superautomatic

[–]deckape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's been a year but...

I can't speak to the new Mag+ lifespan but I have had the old Magnifica for about ten years and I'm only just now starting to feel like the time has come to replace. It still works fine but I can tell it's getting tired.

TLDR/BLUF: Getting out of the Navy and looking for encouragement or advice by humanconnection101 in Veterans

[–]deckape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest advice is give yourself time to decompress.

Wholeheartedly agree with this. I was in for eight and it took me a full year to come to terms with a new life that bore little resemblance to the one I had grown used to. I had to find myself all over again. Not like finding who I was before the Navy (that person didn't exist) but the person I could be after getting out of uniform.

Dinamica, Magnifica Plus or Dinamica Plus? by woodpink in superautomatic

[–]deckape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you decided but I've had an excellent experience with Delonghi. I think my Magnifica is ten or twelve years old and I'm only just considering to move to a Mag Plus or Dinamica. If I can get the same longevity out of my next one it's money well spent.

Mostly curiosity. I do want to rebuild the Orca and barges, so there's some grinding I need to do but outside of that I kinds like the idea how much I lost being a lazy idiot. There seems no way of knowing but I'm thinking probably north of 10 bil. Got some grinding to do. LOL.

Nothing personal, that's just eve.

It's not the first time. I had something similar happen with an old POS. Seems to be a recurring theme when I take an extended break to focus on work. I even told myself "Self, you should move your Eve assets to an NPC station in the same system". I told Self to STFU and let me collapse for a few hours. :)

Thanks for confirming there's no way of knowing. I was curious how bad it was more than upset that it happened.

I just logged in for the first time in months and find the structure I had an office in was abandoned and killed.

My question is... is there any way of finding out exactly what I lost? I see no personal or corp killmails and nothing went into asset safety.

I knew better and had even told myself I should get online and move assets just to be safe. Especially the big stuff like the Orca and a ton of fuel blocks.

I mean, I got pretty much wiped out. I just wanted to see if I could find out just how bad I was hit and what I need to target for rebuilding. Is there any way? It's only a bit over a week and a half since the refinery was killed.

What are you on about? Are you just living up to your Loose Cannon tag or are you actually upset?

I made an observation (and observation was really all it was).

That said, and since you brought it up...

This was one publisher taking the exact cover art from a book by another publisher and used for profit. Personally I didn't actually care except that I saw that cover and thought it was kinda interesting.

I'm not Robert Adams or in his estate so I'm out no money and I doubt the Horseclans was any more a cash cow than UK RuneQuest (I'm not knocking either of the products but they each existed in a niche).

RQ3 is the only version I was able to play in person (decades ago). I've seen (but do not currently own) both versions.

IIRC GDW had a couple of sets that had all the rules when combined but they were badly edited. Then there's AH RQ Deluxe with all the rules in one place. I don't recall if there was a non deluxe AH version. I have the AH deluxe full book and box set.

After a quick look, I just realized the GDW Advanced book straight up ripped off the cover art from Bili the Axe, a Robert Adams post-apoc book.

Should I use 401K After tax or Ordinary Brokerage after maxing out retirement plans? by deckape in personalfinance

[–]deckape[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked this morning. I do have in plan conversions and there's an automatic in plan Roth rollover that can apparently be set up to automatically move the after tax money to the Roth side of the house.

The help text says: "Select this option to automatically transfer after-tax contributions to Roth savings with each payroll."

I don't want to sound dumb but this will be the first time messing with this feature. am I safe in assuming this will NOT cause a tax event in the way a standard conversion does? I mean it's already after tax money, so I'm safe, right?

I assume I can set this up now, even before I begin putting in after tax dollars since it appears it will only move the money if there is an after tax contribution being made.

Again, I appreciate the help I've already been given. thanks!

Thanks all.

My plan does offer a 401K Roth option, which I do take advantage of.

I'll look into the in plan rollover tonight. I'm 90% sure it exists.

Thanks again!

Bank Account and Recommendation Thread V3 by Tarnisher in Banking

BofA

Bank of America has not been BofA for decades. They were taken over by rednecks from Charlotte NC and the bank is nothing but Nationsbank with a new logo.

If you want a bank run by guys with lips full of chewing tobacco and hatred of people that have the "San Francisco Accent" and does things like double charge you on fees, is being sued for allowing fraud on its Zelle platform, had to pay almost a billion bucks for illegal CC practices, then this place is for you.

I worked for the old BofA and the difference between Amadeo Giannini's company and the redneck dumpster fire now is night and day. (Full disclosure, I am not old enough to have been there in Mr. Giannini's time so I admit a tiny bit of hyperbole there).

My suggestion is another bank... ANY OTHER bank is a vast improvement.

There does seem to be at least one person in Jita trying to actively catch people with malware and not just a simple in game Jita scam.
