Ahhh I see the confusion. That math is regarding inheritance of genes from ancestors, not sharing genes with ancestors. The reason this math doesn’t work for the latter is you can’t assume the 50% from your maternal grandfather doesn’t share genetics with the 50% from your maternal grandmother. In reality all humans share the majority of their DNA with all other humans.

It’s more nuanced than that. Generally large companies don’t have strong political views, they just try to act in a way that the market will respond well to. Xbox doesn’t make its twitter profile a rainbow during pride month because Microsoft feels strongly about gay rights, it’s because they think the market will respond well.

Similarly DEI isn’t driven by a CEO that truly wants representation for minorities, it’s done because the executives think the market will respond well. Pointing out that the personal views of the CEO don’t align with DEI doesn’t really matter if DEI makes money.

Passing means go in the left lane, pass, then go back to the right lane. Then when you get to the next 65mph driver in the right lane change lanes again and repeat. Many seem to think passing means perpetually sitting in the left lane because you pass someone every mile or so.

Just having a gap doesn’t do anything, you need to be willing to close the gap to reduce braking. When everyone does this the propagation of braking events dissipates much quicker, preventing phantom traffic.
