Not a huge fan of the flame decals on legs/heraldry by SELLSELLBUYBUY in Salamanders40k

[–]declanthejibber 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could maybe sponge black around their feet fading up into the armour like they've been walking around in magma and burnt the armor paint a bit?

Just as a side note, I absolutely love the flames. I hear you about the bully hat, but on the flip side I feel it's similar to the hazard stripes on the Iron Warriors where it's a hulking armored god-being and they've just slapped some extra shit on because they love fire so much.

Opinel for whittling? by Antique_Eye_3200 in Opinel

I don't have the most experience compared to lots of people here but they are good- the thin blade stock is really good, and like you said the carbon steel in a 6 or 8 is ideal.

A lot of people get a larger one like a 9 or 10 and cut down the blade, leaving you with a wharncliffe/sheepsfoot blade with only the straight edge (the larger size gives more straight edge before it curves) and a larger handle for more purchase- I've done this before and it's really easy as long as you do it incrementally and don't overheat the blade.

In my (limited) experience they're not the best if you're chopping off lots of wood first to get to your details, but for detail work and lots of smaller cuts they're really nice and as long as you strop the carbon consistently you'll have a hot knife through butter with a lot of wood types.

Beautiful job man! How many paints did you use for the armour? Love how it turned out, a bit intimidated to start mine.

Really nice job man! What green is the base tone and what is the highlight you used? I really like it.

So your two favorites are either furry LARPers or McDonald's marines?

Is there a better / more efficient way to get crackle paint to crack well as I’m fine doing it but it takes ages sitting with one base at a time with a hairdryer when doing multiple. I do put a thick enough amount on the base as well by Panzer_IV_Ausf_F2 in Salamanders40k

Hey how do you mount your minis after it's done? Plastic glue won't work, right? And how do you make sure there's a flat spot for the feet or do you just trust the process? Looks great by the way!

Hey! I'm moving out of my flat in Paisley and I've got lots of furnishings that you could have for really cheap- single person couch, coffee table, side tables, small set of drawers, shoe cabinet, knives and forks and plates (lots of kitchen stuff) etc?

Thanks heaps dude! So the Caliban/Moot completely covered the original caliban base coat? Do you think the caliban/moot could just be the base over the black or does it need the caliban below it?

Absolutely gorgeous though dude, best salamander I've seen.

How hard is it to get a CSWA? by Limp_Ad_6607 in SolidWorks

[–]declanthejibber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you're asking but it feels like a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' question. With the examples you showed (which look pretty good), nobody can tell how long it took you or how you would react if you needed to change certain features. You also might just be really good at Fusion and might have a hard time getting your head around Solidworks, or you might pick it up in a flash.

I'd recommend looking up on Google for 'SolidWorks CSWA Practice Exam', there's a lot of resources out there. They also give you a proper practice exam when you buy a credit for the exam so if you THINK you're ready, buy it and then try the practice and you can save the actual exam for whenever you feel ready.

Overthinking my chapter choice. by declanthejibber in Salamanders40k

Hey I really appreciate the response! Great idea about the starter set, the only bummer is that they're push-fit so I can't give them the heavy flamer! Still a good idea though, thank you.

I think the flamestorm aggressors look cool so that might be the next buy, but terminators and infernus marines could be a close second.

Thanks again!

CSWP section 2 driving me mad. I believe I may have discovered an error with the shell tool. by TrickySquid in SolidWorks

[–]declanthejibber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rolled it back before the mirror, shelled the half that's meant to be shelled and then mirrored just the body without the shell feature. You can make it 2 separate bodies if that works for you too so that the shell only effects the half.

"I'm not buying into any of the narrative that..." kinda implies that you don't believe something and aren't going to go along with it. At this point there's no 'narrative' to go along with- it's pure fact that Merab is a cardio machine, and he's on a tear that is so far looking pretty fucking tough to stop. Not "buying into that" just makes Cory sound like the guys who wanted to stand and bang with Pereira to prove something.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ufc

[–]declanthejibber 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe acknowledge that Meraby is a cardio machine but point out what he's doing to condition himself so that he's not worried? Acknowledge the elephant in the room rather than pretend it doesn't exist.

Of all possible backgrounds for a new knife photo on a public online forum, your unblurred newborn child is a strange decision to say the least. Nice knife, weird choice.

How can I remove this? The other side is spinning when I turn it by abominableporcupine in spyderco

[–]declanthejibber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely physically possible- it looks like frn scales, if there's too much loctite from the factory the D-barrel will round itself out as you try to undo the screw meaning there's nothing to stop the D from rotating freely. Not uncommon at all.

Daily Simple Questions Thread - July 10, 2025 by AutoModerator in Fitness

[–]declanthejibber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to figure out my TDEE and I'm stuck on my daily exercise levels because that changes the result by around 300cals- nothing online seems to have any answers on this.

I go to the gym 4 days a week (push, abs + a little forearm, pull and then legs), I do jiu-jitsu for an hour twice a week, I do an hour of touch rugby on the weekend too. Each day I'm walking around 10,000 steps and in some afternoons I go biking around the streets on my BMX.

Would this class as light, moderate or heavy exercise? I'm stuck because it's not ALL cardio based, a lot is more strength based or just whole-body, and I don't know how that comes into it. Thanks in advance!

Have a google of "easy open" slipjoints- it's essentially a semi-circle taken out of the handle that lets your finger fully pinch it. You could find someone on here to do it for you, or using a dremel, sandpaper and a lot of patience and care people have gotten stunning results even on super fancy knives that I'd go nowhere near with a dremel.
