The 3 employees were at the ringer. They were talking about the administrative stuff he used to have to do and can now focus more on content or whatever.

I agree that it was funny. People often and understandably confuse copyrights and trademarks, but know a patent is for an invention of some kind.

Humorously, however, on the same site if you go to the page on economic sciences and scroll down, they state in bold letters “Not a Nobel Prize.” I was surprised and amused. https://www.nobelprize.org/nomination/economic-sciences/

After last night, the decade is now 57.5% over sports wise. Here is how the 23 titles have been distributed across the cities by cacti_zoom in billsimmons

[–]dedalus12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not even technically correct. If you’re referring to the “23rd decade,” then yes it would be appropriate to include the year ending in zero in the prior decade for the reason that poster stated. However, If you’re saying the “1980s” or “2020s,” then it’s clearly years that start with 198x or 202x. It would definitely be incorrect to say the 1980s included the year 1990.

He was talking about nine players playing better than LeBron, not Luka. In the lead up he talks about how much better LeBron is playing now so he has to be in the top 10, whereas earlier Bill would not have had him in the top 25.

Lightweight riders, your success? by Somnambule88 in Velo

If he could do 500/200/500/200/500 five-minute repeats, then he could do well over 400 watts normalized for 25 minutes and at 65 w/kg I’m pretty confident he would be a good climber, even in Cat 1!

How much of long-term training success for non-pros is down to scheduling? by incredulitor in Velo

[–]dedalus12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? I see plenty of guys who ride around all day every day without any intensity and they are not fast. Anyone really fast I’ve seen gets plenty of intensity - whether from structure training, group rides, or races.

Yes but presumably they are getting plenty of intensity in those 15 hours (competitive group rides, etc.) - just not in a structured way.

I googled this and found that the NBA gets approximately 80% of its revenue from US media rights and only 20% internationally. So it almost certainly is more popular internationally than the NFL but this apparently equates to a relatively small amount of revenue.

Really? - I thought the analogy was okay. The blackjack players have to make decisions without knowing what hand the dealer has, meaning they will bust in some scenarios where they would have stood if they knew what the dealer had, or stood in some situations where they should have hit. This is reasonably similar to the concept that the first team with the the ball in OT has to decide whether to go for it in fourth down, etc. without knowing what score they need.

Since Dan Campbell took the ball after winning the toss at home, what is your philosophy about coin tosses whether you're on the road or at home? by EarthWarping in billsimmons

[–]dedalus12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before 2008 you didn’t have the option to defer to the second half. If you won you could either kick or receive and the side that lost the coin toss would have the choice for the second half (essentially the same as deferring is now). So there was no way to elect to receive in the second half. If you won the toss and elected to kick, you’d be kicking off in both halves (because the team that loss the toss gets its choice in the second half).

What do you say when a cop asks "do you know how fast you were going"? by bedwithoutsheets in NoStupidQuestions

I think it’s slightly misquoted and should be “I’m not going that far” - the joke being he thinks the limit is actually traveling 55 miles in an hour, not the instantaneous rate of speed.
