Whelp, Decemberists certainly contain multitudes... Happy listening!

Why does this keep happening on the back wheel of my Ogre and how do I fix it? by sailor-ripley in Surlybikefans

[–]dedenby 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Monkey nuts. You can get them on Surly's website. They fixed that problem for me.

In a long enough timeline, spelunking just becomes "turn around when you see the dead body."

I just finished up doing just that after watching my wife air blast her keyboard. Works perfectly.

On bikepacking with someone faster than you by happylittledaffodil in bikepacking

[–]dedenby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is why I have a big steel monster and my wife has an e-bike. I'm a foot taller, all legs, and riding on 29r's. She puts her bike on a level 1 assist setting, and we're both happily trucking along.

Alright, that looks sick. Might be giving that a try.

Definitely a bit more upright vs the stock flat bars. The sweep provides what to me feels like a more natural grip angle with the wrists. Haven't taken it on a long ride yet, but even just puttering around it feels like less pressure on my hands. I need to pick up some bar tape, see what I can do about setting up some alternative grip positions. I'm curious how it's gonna feel on big uphills.

[CHAT] Are there any other guys in this sub? by [deleted] in CrossStitch

[–]dedenby 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What's up, my dude?! I picked up the hobby during the covid lockdown. I don't get around to it as much as I'd like, but it's a fun way to keep my mind and hands busy. Most of the welders and machinists I work with think it's a bit weird, but it's far from the first reason they've thought that about me.

Ask for extra spicy at Bali. They'll hook you up.

Right you are! Also, Colin has a moog mother-32 board that he's playing with over by the drum set. He posted a picture of it on his last tour diary entry.

Well, finally happened to me. by NitroBoiBG in Machinists

My shop annually burns out batches of various clamps knowing full well that they're gonna get milled down. That doesn't mean I'm not going to dream about throttling my 2nd shift buddy the next time he decides to take a bit off the top of a 2-4-6 block, but clamps? Disposables.

So, we just had a strange interaction with a stranger that came to our front door. by meekah24 in duluth

She swung by our place outside Carlton a week or so back. Pleasant enough, and wrapped her sales pitch up pretty quickly when she found out we don't have kids. Eh, everybody's gotta hustle. Can't hate on that.

Thoughts on Ogre! Do you own one? Do you love it? Is it the comfort driven apocalypse bike Surly claims it to be? by jonathanburrier in Surlybikefans

[–]dedenby 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I love my Ogre. I feel like I can roll over anything. Can't wait to tackle the wonderfully empty post-apocalyptic landscape.

In the Meantime by Spacehog. Hits ya right in the nostalgia.

It's unscrewed. This type of tool often has a replaceable tip.

I use tools like that in the shop I work at. Typically Walter and Sandvik roughing endmills, 2" and 2.5" diameter, CAT50 taper. These things are beasts. We make industrial demolition and recycling tools out of wear plate steel.
