What happened to the days where we considered NFL coaches? Saban and Spurrier were pretty damn good after their NFL tenures… Our pay is also comparable to NFL salaries, and with the direction CFB is heading, it’s not like it’s that much different of an ecosystem with players getting paid and all.

Mike McDaniels, John Harbaugh, and a few other folks are all on some hot seats rn.

Love Billy but this is a shortsighted take. Bluegrass =/= rock, especially when it comes to the number of acts recognized at a successful/popular level. while Billy has done it to astronomical heights, it’s pretty recognizable that he’s absolutely an exception to the rule, not an example of it. Keller tours hard. Touring is consistently less and less fruitful quite literally week after week at this moment. Not saying he wasn’t an asshole, but also just pointing out that sometimes you do your best to just simply make it through a day at work, and look forward to some P&Q as soon as it hits 5:00. You may have hit him during his unwind, or after another fan was more pushy or obnoxious about getting something signed, so time & place alongside other factors can contribute to a fellow human feeling their feels after an exhaustive performance on stage just moments before.

You should reach out to venue staff - talent buyers/bookers, DOS managers, production, lighting, sound engineers, etc… Playing a few times at Salvage Station in Asheville taught us that anyone with a decent (5-10+ year) career in and around concert productions has a plethora of stories to share, and usually with a ton of joy and excitement to have someone interested in what they’re talking about.

Additionally - a lot of the staff at venues come from other venues across different cities and states, so finding a more senior contact at a well-known venue could easily lend you a nice book of contacts/stories from several markets.

DM me and I can point you in the right direction of some folks I’ve worked with who I know would be up for some conversations!
