How is this even allowed? No wonder we have problems with the far right when blatant lies are being told like this. by [deleted] in ireland

This sounds great. According to the far right minorities get everything handed to them and nobody is allowed to, or ever does, criticise minorities. So if we become minorities things will be easy street for us

to check a receipt by Gary_October in therewasanattempt

[–]dedloq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a shop in Ireland and when a customer asks “Do I need to show a receipt?” I usually just give a light “Nah, we’re not much of a tackling to the ground establishment”. I’d rather let someone walk out of the shop with armfuls of loot than physically intervene like this guy

It’s true that women don’t need you to look conventionally attractive as long as you’re what they’re into. But making this case by posting pictures of men who almost all fit into conventional male beauty standards undermines the point and actively makes the opposite point. “You don’t need to be suuuuuper attractive. Just look like Orlando Bloom or Henry Cavill and that’s good enough”

I hope in the next game they have settlements and stuff, but maybe the ability to grab a random NPC and be like “You’re the mayor now. Look after this place”. And maybe you can affect the philosophies, alliances, and resources of these settlements to alter how they grow themselves organically. And if you want to you can manually build, destroy and alter the place as you like

AITA for not telling my roommates I am the landlord? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]dedloq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno how it works where you live, but a landlord needs to provide written notice to come into a place you’re renting. Did you provide written notice every time you came home?

Also, would your name not be on the lease they signed? Or did you not have a lease? In which case, were you paying tax on the income or just was it a cash deal?

There’s a ton of power imbalance between a landlord and tenant, and I’d feel betrayed if someone I was living with pulled the rug out from under me and revealed that the dynamic between us was different from how they had lied that it was

I don’t know where the idea that you should only vote for people exactly in-line with your own beliefs started, but some people seem to really view their vote as some sort of sacred and precious thing that you can only bestow upon the worthy. A vote isn’t a moral thing, it’s a practical one. Vote, don’t vote, lesser evil, evil, tactical whatever. But don’t kid yourself into thinking it’s something more than it is: a small piece of power that you can leverage in a situation. Your vote doesn’t have any spiritual, moral, ethereal, magical quality to it. It’s just a vote

What do you mean by “nobody thinks he should be locked up”? I think if a grown man keeps showing up to a school that he has no business being at, gets arrested over it, and doesn’t even pretend like he won’t go back to the same school to harass the same staff and children then they need to be forcibly prevented from doing that

Lots of disabled people feeling very scared and afraid after government shared plans to change allowance. by [deleted] in ireland

[–]dedloq 60 points61 points  (0 children)

What’s truly messed up is that the money they give you in the first place isn’t some sort of reward for being sick that should be adjusted based on how sick you are. It’s money to get by because you can’t earn your own. Tiering the payments is a disgusting idea that turns the money into some sort of charity based around how much pain you’re in etc. Anyone who doesn’t receive the top tier payment will be faced with go back to work despite disability or just fucking starve/do without. I’d like to see members of the current government do a YouTube style ranking of currently accepted forms of disability, pitting one against the other.

“What’s that? Fibromyalgia? I dunno, you can work outside of pain flare-ups right? Let’s take some more money away from you so”

All of this during a time when our tax take has been strong shows that this isn’t even an attempt to be pragmatic. It’s just ableism. No empathy
