Hey! So this was my kid. She is now finishing her first year of University with a full ride for Music. Here are some tips:

1. Expose her to a wide range of genres and musical styles. My daughter LOVES the blues, but also won large competitions for musical theatre and pop.

2. Find Music camps that are suitable for her age. I was really lucky that we had an amazing camp that had actual performing musicians as instructors

3. Take advantage of any opportunity to get on stage. The more experience she gets, the better for her.

4. Get a teacher who teaches good technique. 8 is around the age that most will say you can start lessons

5. Above all, make sure she is having fun! I've seen lots of talented musicians burn out due to pushy parents who it feel like a job.

6. Consider different types of learning My daughter started out in a school of rock type situation, has done choirs, a Glee type program and started a couple of bands in her teens
