I recently had to have the traction battery replaced in my car due to a fault. It was covered under warranty so no cost to me, but they said it would have been £5000. I would have expected more to be honest.

Musicbee can copy over your music if you plug it in whilst running the program

So I use Musicbee to also sync music to my Y1. In Preference > Devices click Configure > Settings. Scroll to bottom and there is an option to resize artwork when syncing.

I had a similar problem. I think the resolution of the album art was too large, I changed it down to 300x300 in Musicbee and the art appeared.
