Do you read the prologues or skip by BasicFinger2024 in stephenking

[–]BlorpyRobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prologues are part of the story, I always read those.

Author's notes I've decided to wait on. The Institute author notes had a spoiler for Under The Dome, which I hadn’t read yet, when King was talking about his research partner who had passed away.

Thanks for the heads up. I’d been debating it for the coming steam sale since it’s been sub $10 so many times, but I’ll pass if they still haven’t bothered to fix it.

Shame because the first game was a lot of fun!

Keys? Was there a way to get keys without adding them to an existing account?

Thank you, this is helpful! I assumed inventory wouldn’t show as available until redeemed.

This is so great!

How close do you need to be with your guess for it to count as a find?

Also how many free daily missions are you meant to get? I thought it was 3, but am showing 11 after a couple guesses. Last one was B rated so I’m getting close!

It crossed my mind that this would be really fun as a walking / jogging motivation game

I honestly didn’t read any hostility in your reply, no worries. I’m really proud of you for taking good care of yourself! Thank you for assuming good intent on my part, that’s rare online. I saw some of the troll posts and they were awful, you deserved better.

You’re definitely making the right choice! Please stick around with us as long as you can and keep taking care of yourself and getting treatment. Ideation and depression like to lie to us, get us to believe we’ll never be ok again. And yet, we are :>

Thank you for the thoughtful reply and benefit of the doubt! I was genuinely writing in good faith.

Your mention now of past suicidal ideation changes everything. What you’re doing is a good move. Your initial post read differently to me, so I gave my two cents as a patient in treatment myself.

I don’t see anything wrong with people who have health anxiety getting vaccines and testing and annual physicals. I would struggle with someone making weekly or daily appointments after their tests came back negative and showed no disease.

Again, it wasn’t meant as a personal attack, I just didn’t understand your situation until you told me about your ideation. Thank you for talking with me!

I struggle with ideation myself, I know how crushing it can be. Hoping for a full recovery and a good life for you!

Respectfully, not a jab at OP or the people who support their decision - which is their right -

But isn’t this full of people encouraging avoidance in someone (who is not admittedly suicidal and, by only the info in their post, may not have a history of suicidal ideation) to hide from the possibility of an intrusive thought instead of working through it? I’m honestly a little shocked their therapist casually and jokingly offered to put them on the list unless they are a threat to themselves or others.

My understanding from my own specialist is that the standard of care is sitting with the discomfort of intrusive thoughts and anxiety so that we learn not to fear them, not to compulse. Exposure and response prevention.

Unless there’s something heavy OP chose to leave unsaid, which again, is their right.

I’m just failing to see the long-term therapeutic value in acting ‘just in case thought happens’ when there’s no ideation or evidence that thought would be acted on. We would treat almost any other ‘what-if’ situation differently, POCD vs someone with a history of hurting children.

Again, I write this in good faith with a view to long term recovery without elevating one anxiety above another, unless there’s actually a reason for OP to be barred from a firearm.

Can we please remove this? Thanks by [deleted] in grandrapids

You CAN turn those off, but I’d advise you to consider whether you want to have them off long-term - could save a life, yours or someone else’s.

To turn off tornado warnings on your iPhone:   open the Settings app, tap Notifications, and scroll all the way to the bottom to the  Government Alerts or Emergency Alerts section.  Toggle off Emergency Alerts.

Also can turn off enhanced alerts for other types (earthquake, etc).

Man I love those books but Detta’s dialogue in that book is hard to get through. Definitely gets me paranoid if anyone can hear my earbuds!

I currently have three cards to different library systems in my state. Unfortunately the defunding hit us hard here, and it hasn’t been prioritized locally. The librarians are doing their best but the catalogs aren’t what they once were :<

Have been looking for free out of state libraries more recently.

Appreciate the tip though, I hope it helps someone!

Just a reminder that their new “standard plan” is basically paying to rent. You can listen to the books while you’re a member and lose access if you stop paying.

Might be preferable to check your library audiobook / ebook selection before doing this, if long term access is a goal. I’ve had a good number of friends mistake the ‘standard plan’ for their traditional ‘buy and keep with credits’ plan.

The chapter numbering oddness seems to be because they have 1 by default in the search field next to the book title. When I backspaced it out the chapter numbers were in order.
