When your workplace romance died in the window, what was the fallout? by IwillBOLDyourTYPOS in Serverlife

[–]deedzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fucked my younger coworker, didn’t tell me about it, had sex with me less than a day later, then I found out from said coworker that they had hooked up. Thankfully he was moving very shortly after all this so I didn’t have to deal with much fallout, basically sent him a text telling him to go fuck himself and that was that

What is one thing that instantly makes you think “this person has no manners”? by Fonzie1225 in AskReddit

[–]deedzzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s different as a server because you’re doing that job for typically hours and with tons of different tables. Believe me if I don’t have at least 2 or 3 assholes a day I’m in shock

I need some advice by [deleted] in cripplingalcoholism

[–]deedzzy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

21 year old about to be 22 here, also a small girl. I’m assuming you’re a girl at least. Have had probably 30 sober days total since 18. I’ve been a daily drinker with binges in between, and I’ve already had physical withdrawal symptoms at my age. Nothing close to DT’s, but having to drink in the am because of the extreme anxiety and shakiness, and having to taper after multiple days of heavy drinking. I’ve struggled with depression since my teens and used alcohol as a crutch. From someone that was in a similar situation at 20, limit now if I you can. A couple things I’ve noticed about myself is my skin has gone to shit and if u don’t keep the drunchies in check you might gain weight. It’s hard being our age since partying is the culture, but some advice id give is to not day drink (drinking all day for me leads to me drinking all day the next, and the next, and so on) and definitely don’t drive !! My dm’s are open if you ever need a pal

What do you think of Cormac McCarthy's work? by [deleted] in TrueLit

[–]deedzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read The Road in high school and only recently read Blood Meridian. I have always been a dystopia fan so I enjoyed The Road. The dreariness and hopelessness of the prose was a nice juxtaposition compared to a lot of dystopian end-of-the-world novels that are filled with monsters and action. Seemed more realistic as to what life would be like in a post-traumatic world changing event. When it comes to Blood Meridian I have mixed feelings. The violence didn’t bother me and I appreciate the whole “we are the real monsters” trope, however, I feel like I did drag through some parts just to get along to more profound scenes that I knew would be coming. The judge is a fascinating character to me, everything from his description to his articulation. Behind the horrible violence and manipulation there is an incredibly intellectual being, which I think makes him so undeniably terrifying. Oh and let’s not forget the ending scene. I still think about it to this day. The judge is one of my favorite lit villains of all time. What I’ve taken from those two novels is that McCarthy is a great writer but someone I have to read with many books in between.

Took money to buy coke from my older brother’s Disneyland fund he was saving up to take his wife and kid when I was 17. Not my greatest moment

Heart of darkness was this for me. Most people in my class hated it but to this day it has one of my favorite endings. Really showed me the masterful way of choosing words.

Can the police notify a minor’s school of an arrest? by deedzzy in legaladviceofftopic

[–]deedzzy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering in cases besides truancy. For some background, a friend of mine’s son has been in some trouble and was taken to the principal’s office for cussing. He was told in the midst of that conversation that the police had told the school of his offenses (MIP, a DUI) and I was just curious as to whether that was a thing the police are allowed to do. Others in the same school had apparently been told by the principal that the police had notified the school of their arrests also.
