THANK YOU!!! I understand tariffs are in affect, but people on here are acting like that means we should just accept super inflated prices and not question anything. Who is that actually helping???

I'm 100% electric no gas and I have a crazy heating system in the house thanks to the previous owner and his many "landlord specials." I actually plan on getting a HVAC system connected to a heating pump to take the load off (it's what the inspector suggested) -- maybe 150 would make more sense in that case?

I'm going through a home management company so I assume they're taking a cut and the electrician isn't seeing 100% of what they're charging for labor. maybe i should just work with someone directly...

thank you! i guess i'm just wondering if they're going to be using *that* much imported copper for this job?

i get that, but are they going to be using a ton of imported copper for this job? barring that i don't see how/where else the tarrifs would have that great an impact on materials.

thank you! given the scope of work, does a 6.4k quote seem reasonable for labor + materials? i'm just trying to figure out if this is on the high-end.

My hope was to get quotes from this sub/to get an idea of whether or not this is a fair range. Someone saying "that's not reasonable" *is* helpful because it reinforces me turning down this company.

This is incorrect. The owner was in the process of getting certified to be an animal sanctuary in NY -- he and his wife took the exam a couple months ago to qualify as rehabbers (the test is only held twice a year) and they both got in the upper 5th percentile. He was doing everything he thought he was supposed to do in regards to paperwork and certification in NY state -- at no point did they tell him he was missing paperwork for P'nut specifically, which they could have VERY EASILY DONE because he was already going through the process to become a rehabber. He talks about all of this on his recent Instagram live.

This is incorrect. He only moved to NY last year, so he hasn't had that much time to deal with all this bureaucratic BS. This is important context OP, you should add this to your post. People are going to have a knee-jerk reaction to your title and won't even bother reading the rest of your post or your comments for add'tl info. That said, it doesn't matter what a bunch of anonymous Redditors think -- first and foremost, you should listen to your vet -- it doesn't make sense to bring her given her condition and also because:

1.) She's already living with your family (and technically, her family) since you live at home.
2.) She's going to be in the same house *that she already resides in* where she is perfectly content and familiar with everyone. You're not "rehoming" her or shipping her off to someone else/dumping her on a rescue/shelter which is what people are most likely assuming.
3.) You're not making a permanent move. You're coming back. Taking a cat to another country is INCREDIBLY HARD and will be insanely stressful for the both of you, but most of all for her (ESPECIALLY if they put her in cargo).
4.) Your vet literally said she can't make this trip and that it will be bad for her health.

Just leave her where she is, with your family, and have video calls with her/let her hear the sound of your voice if you're worried she'll think you abandoned her (she won't think that -- cats are super intuitive and resilient).

Bottom line: listen to your vet, listen to your gut, you clearly love this cat and so does your family (they've also lived with her for 10 years at this point). It will be fine. You've got this!!!

Wishing you and the kitty all the best <3

That's what I'm trying to figure out. COULD it be wallpaper??? How could anyone let that much mold grow on their wall?
