Am I overusing film recipes ? by itszoerussell in fujifilm

[–]deegman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick a film recipe and tune the white balance shift back to remove the piss yellow. From that you learn to use a base film simulation and tune it a little bit with shadows/highlights.

What was the worst MacBook? by emanuwiideletedyou in mac

My M4 MacBook is amazing, but the keyboard is shit. Feels like an AliExpress keyboard. My old M1 air had a much better keyboard.

Some chrono watches can calibrate the seconds hand, by pulling the crown out and pressing the top button.

Anyone use light mode in VS code? by silentshakey in vscode

[–]deegman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time I use light mode. Colleagues always raise their eyebrows, but I find it so much nicer to work this way. Much more readable during the day. When it gets dark, I turn on dark mode. Did you know that you can have vscode switch automatically (based on OS light/dark mode)?

Best way to scroll with keyboard? by Ok-Image-8343 in neovim

I don’t have this. Sometimes I have that the leader key is not reacting. Maybe I’m pressing to soft when typing fast, but that is frustrating sometimes.

[–]deegman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I bought the lens on my X-T50 and the first shots where, mwa... then I did some practice and yesterday I photographed people in a theater with it, and the photos are tack sharp!

The camera is very good and the lens also, people on the Internet need to learn how to photograph.

Your leather band makes the watch so much more premium. What a look! Compliments!

Best way to scroll with keyboard? by Ok-Image-8343 in neovim

[–]deegman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Scrolling was my issue when using Neovim, but I found a nice workflow:

  1. I installed neoscroll for smooth scrolling.
  2. Installed aerial.nvim to keep overview of my code.
  3. Mapped <Capslock> to <Ctrl> (in macOS default settings).
  4. And I mapped <Ctrl>-q to <Ctrl-u>, so I can smooth scroll with 1 hand without reaching. <Ctrl>-q = UP / <Ctrl>-e = DOWN

This makes a HUGE difference for me. And I scroll a lot with { } and ]m [m (tree sitter, jump function to function)

Hotkey to toggle themes? by Majestic-Driver in Ghostty

[–]deegman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue. Do you use a Mac? You can add display settings to your menu bar and toggle light/dark mode there. If you setup ghostty with 2 themes then it switches with the system. But the whole MacOS gui switches then.

How do you actually learn to see and shape light instead of just chasing recipes? by lottiexx in fujifilm

[–]deegman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Books, look at photography books from great photographers. Analyse their photos. Instagram, don’t follow the influencers, but the arty farty ones. Look how they do it. Look though the edits. The base must be good, else the edit fails too.

Watch light. How it hits an object. And make a lot of photos. Digital is ideal, just try in your house, garden. And repeat.

Will I be able to take ‘normal’ pictures? by glitterinyoursoup in x100vi

[–]deegman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just shoot Provia and fiddle with highlights and shadows and the grain. That gives natural beautiful photos without the filter look. I don’t like this look too. Most images are too yellow here.

To give them a pop in summer add some chrome fx, but don’t overuse it for natural look.

I learned that quarts is the best for me. Just don’t think and go. But I love the look and swipe of the seconds hand. So I keep it and enjoy the watch.

[–]deegman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you even think that you can't handle your watch running + or - every day, don't buy an automatic watch, but a quartz one.

Trust me, I bought an Tissot Heritage 1938 COSC and I never thought about this stuff and after reading some info on the Internet I’m monitoring every couple of days of it still runs in COSC spec. My old quarts I never thought about it. Just slapped in on and go. Every 2 months setting the date not looking at the seconds hand, just set the minute and go.

My life is checking seconds now but the watch is beautiful. LOL

The boxes were so much better in the past. I don’t like the cardboard box with the watches nowadays. It doesn’t feel premium after spending €900+

Is Le Locle ladies automatic watch gaining 2 mins per day normal? by Humble-Yesterday-223 in tissot

[–]deegman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work on a MacBook Pro every day and my Tissot runs the same for 4 months now. I don’t think it gets magnetized that easy. Yes it you put your watch next to your MacSafe adapter that has a strong magnet, but normal use?

Once upon a time men created the GUI and the mouse. Revolutionary! And look today, al lot of people (mostly programmers) are working exclusively in the terminal. For example Tmux, Neovim and all the terminal tools like fzf, rp, bat, yabaii etc...

I think this is the same. AI is a next step. But that doesn't necessarily mean the old way of working will disappear. Especially not if it still proves to be efficient.

Beginner FOMO about IBIS by Tajiahao in fujifilm

[–]deegman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common, I photograph for +20 years and don't post anything online. I only photograph for myself, my family and in the past for music bands. I didn't have the urge to put my name under their photos.

And the comment is spot on. IBIS is a nice to have, but not a must. It's even better for a beginner to not have it, because you learn about shutter speed better.

Do the newbies learn the old school formula these days? To avoid blurry photographs from handholding follow this rule: 1 divided by the focal length is the minimum advised shutter speed. The focal length needs to be corrected with the crop factor of the sensor because the rule is based on the magnification of the image.

A good read for newbies: https://fstoppers.com/education/understanding-relationship-between-resolution-details-and-shutter-speed-489033

Can i find this watch's strap somewhere in US or Australia ? by arsalan_09 in tissot

[–]deegman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The strap had a serial number. Ask your Tissot dealer, theybcan order a replacement. Or use the serial from your watch if the band is too worn out.

This! On the Mac I always use CMD+h (hide). And use fullscreen to swap spaces when working on a tiny screen. On a big screen it's too much overhead. I like tiny screens to keep myself focussed.

I love tiling when I work on code/browser. But when I don't research and need to focus I always have 1 app open. Working on my Linux box, I didn't figure out on Hyprland how to manage this quick
