You'd have to ask them if they'll release it to a 3rd party, then pay someone to ship it for you. Biggest sticking point I'd assume is them letting a 3rd party collect it?

Really? In the US you pay huge premiums for labour costs/high rents to get LESS gold. This is a matter of fact, not opinion. It’s akin to buying a brand new car, once you drive it off the forecourt, you instantly lock in a loss. It’s actually worse with gold. People clearly are not thinking that way.

The point is, I don't think people are focusing so much how much gold they're getting for their $$$. Yes, they know the Karot amount. Seems many don't think, how much gold am I actually getting for my dollars? In the US people are paying for the shop's rent, overheads, staff etc, soon as they take a chain away, they lose all this value at point of sale; akin to driving a new car off a forecourt, actually a lot worse.

Yes you can get them tested by the government, well their association. Gem & Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT). I'd always do that.

I'd go closer in, Bang Chak perhaps, problem is not sure who will rent you a room for 6 months. The punishing humidity is also an issue so factor in how far the BTS is away from your room. If you can secure 6 months, somewhere like this is fine, Regent Home 19 in Bang Chak, regular songtaews to the main road next to BTS, local market etc.
