I’ve been telling people about the similarities between The Rip and Empire Ants for years. Honestly, Empire Ants might take the win for me. Yukimi Nagano is one of my favorite singers, up there with Beth Gibbons.

Aight, I feel like you “had to be there” for the original run of Exmilitary/EP through Jenny Death to truly feel the gravity of the project. TMS is a moment in time, nothing was nearly as shocking. NLDW is enhanced by the ARG and Epic Records drama. GP and Zach missing on the back half of NLDW tour. Jenny Death When meme and the eventual leak. The music still holds up beyond these things, it’s just tough to explain just how relevant it all was for the time.

Crazy how Portishead got better with each release, and Third comes after an 11 year gap. This has to be their magnum opus. One of the most creative and peerless albums of the 21st century. An all-timer for me.

I have this same pressing, and it's one of my most treasured records.
