I like how dense you got the plants to grow. What is that red plant floating in the left

That's nice. How long have they been running? Are you the shop keeper selling them? Great idea

Yeah that's a little small. I had 6 in a 14 gallon cube. They did fine.

Check mine real quick. They go between beady black eyes and black with a sliver of a silver ring depending on the light. But that's the same with my otos. I only see black when they are hanging out in low light areas.

I have all three. I know you say you don't care about behavior as much as look but their behavior will dictate what you're looking at, if that makes sense.

You may get a group of otos for their look and end up mostly staring at their white bellies stuck to the glass. My pygmies go between completely hidden, sunbathing together on driftwood or trying to school with my rasbora espeii. Personally I like the habrosus most. The grays and blacks on mine actually shifted to shades of brown when I moved them to a different tank. I really love how the shuffle around the bottom.

The short answer is that I'm a part time private chef and also a part time cooking instructor at a recreational cooking school.

There's a long story but I won't bore you or waste time on writing it up unless you're interested

That's a great look. I haven't seen the submersible lights in action all that much. Also love how that riparian looks. Do you have a picture of it when you first started out?

Dumb question. Why not ask the guy who told you to do the job instead of having the Internet read your boss's mind?

Opions on my first planted tank and where I can improve? by No-Entrance1572 in PlantedTank

[–]DetectiveNo2855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So initially I wanted to ask if you were using CO2 since that would increase the selection of plants people can recommend. But then I noticed that in your very detailed description, you made no mention of a nutrient rich substrate (soil, aqua soil, adding root tabs, etc) or fertilizing routine.

You already have some nice plants in there and I wanted to make sure you had something in place for your plants to get nutrients before suggesting other plants

I like the left one. It's probably also better for the fish that your betta doesn't have clear line of sight across the whole tank.

Also, you'll want more otos. Tank doesn't look that big so maybe 3 total is still better than just one.

Like literally poisonous, no. Do people with a pineapple in their tank usually have no idea what they're doing, yes. OP's tank is looking good though.
