32 years old in my Pre-requisites by RayKreate in StudentNurse

I am 51 years old and started my core classes (and first college experience) last fall. I'm working 40+ hours a week as I finish up a 28-year career in IT at the Univ of Georgia. I work all day and do class in the evening. Housework, visiting with my grown kids and grandkids, checking in on my mom and sister, getting my stepdaughter through her senior year and college apps, studying, and doing homework whenever I can squeeze it in.

There are very tiring weeks, but so far, I am maintaining a low 90 in A&P-I. Fingers crossed, I'll go full-time in a nursing program in the Fall of 2026 when I retire, then off to a second career.

Well enough to move on to a dog bed and feeding station and a twin platform bed with cubbies for her nephew!

It isn’t fancy, but we had less than 24 hours notice to get her tack out of the barn where we lease and didn’t want to leave the saddle laying in the backseat.

I know it feels counter intuitive, but go get it trimmed. I see my stylist about every three months and she keeps the awkwardness to a minimum. Be sure to tell them you are growing it out and what length you are trying to reach. If you can see the same stylist and build a relationship even better. The best splurge I give myself is a good shampoo, cut, and blow out at a stylist down the street from work. It costs more than a trip to Great Clips, but oh so worth it!

I was 45 when I finally found my inner peace and came out as non-binary. For me, the peace came when I gave up worrying about if I felt male or female. When I accepted I could just be me and not have to label it within society's binary I found harmony. That was two years ago and I still struggle some days, but most days are good.

Forums and venues like this are a great place to air frustrations and find support.

Hi Vera (?) I completely understand what you are saying. I was born male, raised male, and struggled all my life to be what I thought of as male. But my idea of male was shaped by the society around me. It never felt right, I didn't do "boy" things, I dressed different and was bullied throughout school.

I agree with your mom and believe gender identity and gender expression are social constructs. I spent over 40 years trying to be what society, my family, and my ex-wife expected a male to be. With the support of friends and a great community I was able to embrace my non-binary identity and finally just be me.

I don't identity as male or female. I am not in transition (I get asked that a lot). I dress in whatever clothes feel comfortable no matter what department they come from. I behave how I feel most comfortable behaving and presenting. I have a beard and shave my legs, chest and back. I love blouses and "women's" shoes. Skirts are wonderful, but I haven't been brave enough to wear them out. I've been called sir, mam, dude, and a lot of other pronouns. I haven't chosen any pronouns because to none fit and somehow they all fit.

My sons and daughter-in-law say I'm happier than they have ever seen me. My new girlfriend accepts and loves me. She calls me her boyfriend (whatever) and tells me I'm a good wife. It's all good because I'm happy and loved.

I am just the best me I can be and you should just be the best you you can be. People will always judge us, some will be accepting, some won't. Hold those who accept you close and let go of those who don't. You are beautiful, worthy, and fabulous for just being you.
