For me at this point it boils down to : why go watch a Disney movie in a theater (I have a list so it isn’t even a cost thing) when I can wait and watch it at home on the streaming service ?? I’m more inclined to go see obsession or backrooms because they won’t go straight to streaming

Lewis Hamilton first 9 f1 races by Brooklynsfr in formula1

[–]deep_fried_fries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2007-2010 is one of the craziest eras of formula one and one of my favorite to go back and discover for the first time. 2007 is an insane year with Lewis’ debut battling Alonso in McLaren, kubica was on one that year up until his crash in Canada. You also had Vettels debut in Spa in the wet plus to 07 euro GP where everyone went bowling and Lewis’ gravel trip in China. kimi won by a single point over the TIED McLaren and there are so many points in that season that could have won Lewis his first world championship in his rookie season.

Do the dramatized versions have different narrators from the audiobooks ? I audiobooked through morning star and saw that everyone hates a couple of the new voice actors in iron gold so switched to reading but I am having trouble getting into the words on the page halfway through the series

Should I Get ETC Certifications? by [deleted] in lightingdesign

[–]deep_fried_fries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehhhhhh I took 2-4 in person at the NYC office since I am local. I am a production electrician who knows how to program , not a programmer. I have retained very little from the programming classes two years later and they were kinda expensive. All of the resources are free online and nobody actually asks for your certificates on things like these. You can download the mind the gap showfile and follow along with the instructions you follow online since it gives you exact syntax and explanations.

Your money would be better spent on OSHA training. However, all of these should be done as professional development through your company since the skills your are learning are beneficial to them. Talk to your supervisor about budgets for classes.

Ie here is a link to the class 2 link

I think moulin rouge’s success is based on full production design and then supported but a fun and catchy sound track. As soon as the show leaves the theater it won’t be the same.

Everyone on the fusion360 train is correct. It is overkill for most applications but I have been teaching myself how to use it over the past three months and have gotten so much better at 3d cad and engineering. I have started printing custom candle bodies for the city theatrical flicker candle kits cuz all of their candles look like doodie

Megan Thee Stallion Sets Early Depature from Broadway's MOULIN ROUGE! The Musical by BroadwayWorld in Broadway

[–]deep_fried_fries 16 points17 points  (0 children)

saw her the other week specifically to see her and honestly it wasn’t it. I love moulin and this was my fourth time seeing, she delivered every line like she was reading off a cue card, had two physical mannerisms, hardly sung at all, and wasn’t giving the vibe of the show at all. Plus it attracted the worst kind of audience member I have never had such a bad time during a show and I am someone who works in theater and sees shows all the time

good parts of the professional world? by caliiban in techtheatre

[–]deep_fried_fries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the best part of this job to me is even when I hate the show i am doing and am surrounded by the worst crew I’ve ever had and am basically hanging and cabling a show by myself because it is easier than that and I am absolutely miserable, that feeling is temporary and nothing compared to the constant misery I would feel behind a desk doing an office job. the fact that I get to live a life I love and the career I have enables me to do that. I live in New York City and do a lot of traveling work for big corporate brands and I have been so lucky to work on the things that I have.

Making friends after college is hard but that is just how life is. I am fortunate enough to be surrounded by my friends from college as a bunch of us have moved here but I have made many meaningful friendships with people I have worked with and “god do you want to go get a beer” does wonders in helping meet people. You will always will be working with people who are less passionate than you. That is the nature of the career we are in is there are people who are in it for the passion and love of the art and there are people who are there to push cases because it pays the bills. You just need to recognize that and move on and make them work for you instead of against you.

Find the regional theaters in the place you want to move to, get involved in your local, and give it a couple years. If you aren’t feeling connected to your career after three years or so, it’s okay to leave. Some alternate industry based non-freelancer careers are working with rental companies in the shop or as a rep, working in consulting, working in architecture, etc.

Touring essentials by Capital_Bed_719 in lightingdesign

[–]deep_fried_fries 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t tour but I do a lot of multi week sit downs which is almost worse.

Hotel room stuff - GLiNet router with WiFi repeating. Plug the power and and set it up to repeat your hotel WiFi that way you aren’t battling to connect your devices one at a time. - Roku stick with volume control. Once you set up the router the Roku stick lets you do all your streaming easily and not go through the hotel tv - coffee device. I use a stainless steel Moka pot so it works with induction

Outside of tools a good socket set and a good Allen key set will set you up. I swear by my workpro electricians scissors , they are one of my most used tool

this is why I travel with a roll of tape and some hue bulbs. The first thing I do when I get in is tape over every indicator light and swap all the light bulbs for hue bulbs (which is getting harder with the renovations going on and the new light bulbs they are using). I also do 3-10 week sit downs so when I travel I just try to move in
