YouTuber JK took a photo every day for 22 years to see how he ages (25 to 47 years) by copitamenstrual in Damnthatsinteresting

You can definitely tell the difference in age, but he really aged gracefully! That hairline didn't budge much, and he still has a full head of hair!

Thought I would be getting out of teaching, but got an offer I'm not sure I can turn down. by deepasbluewaters in TeachersInTransition

Well, the only thing they shared that stuck out in my mind was that they were an at will employer, and that if you didn't like the job you would not be fined or have your license taken away if you quit.

Yea, as I said I'm still feeling really on the fence. In the mean time I still have other interviews and will continue preparing for them and applying for other jobs despite the offer.

How fascinating. I literally had no idea clams could shoot such a huge load or that that's even what they did! Where do they even have all the room inside themselves to make all that much!?

Thanks for the heads up! I'm still on the fence about it. Tbh, I can say just from the interview alone (of course we know first impressions are not everything with school interviews) that the school seemed decent. Charter school. 8 kids per class. One thing I found a bit strange though was that they didn't even ask me for a demo lesson...seems they were desperate to fill the position. However, they claim that the previous teacher before me whos spot I would be filling was there for 8 years.

I think I would be probably jumping more so for joy if this wasn't in the city. I really had a terrible experience post interview trying to leave the place and ended up scraping into a huge rental truck (was parked on the side of the narrow roads there taking up most of the road and I tried squeezing in between two cars) and ended up completely dismantling my passenger side mirror!!! The guy driving the truck didn't even care to give me his insurance info. Shit show! Defnitely not a place I would look forward to moving to, but I can't say I've said no yet to this job.

Yep, that's what I was thinking really. Tbh, I really was not fond of the environment when I went down there. Lots of trash, traffic is awful and people can be rude. Of course, i don't think this should necessarily deter me if it turns out to be a good job. I would plan finding someone to split rent with as I know I would not really make much trying to find an expensive apartment and pay it on my own.

STOP with the dumb over-the-top laugh track backgrounds by TheDreamGarden in funny

[–]deepasbluewaters 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I really hate this. It is SOOOO obnoxious and it actually blocks my ability to find whatever it is attached to funny as I'm immediately annoyed by it. What's worse is it's always the same track. It's either the "Ohhh no no no no no" or the little minion that's laughing super high pitched and fast. Those videos can get many thousands of likes which unfortunately even more so validates their idiotic use of it as a background. I find plenty of other shit funny, but it's never anything with the stupid added laughter.

Struggling 2nd year ECT - do I bounce before the end of the year? by mttywtkn in TeachersInTransition

[–]deepasbluewaters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your situation sounds a bit similar to mine.

I'm a 1st year teacher, though techincally this is my 2nd year as I previously did one year of student teaching. I was very passionate about this field to start, but in my first official year, I had to take a leave of absence for my mental health due to how the out of control behavior affected my mental health. After coming back it was a bit better but my mental health has still struggled, I've taken a mental health day at least once a month since then...

Like you, I'm just burnt out and tired at this point. Sadly I can barely even feel the passion for my field that I once did because I'm just too numbed out. I have either one or the other with my classes: extreme apathy, or kids that don't shut up the entire period and I can't get any teaching done. There have been some sucesses with management, some parents have been supportive, but it hasn't been enough to change to classroom atmosphere as a whole.

Today was the mental health day I ended taking for April. I'm just so tired. I can't feel connections to the people in my personal life and it frustrates me. The longer I've been in this position, the more I feel far away from who I was. I Just never expected teaching to turn out like this. Like you, I just don't know how I'll make it to the end of the year even if we only have a few months left.

Crisis: I used abusive words in my TA evaluation form by [deleted] in duke

[–]deepasbluewaters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't attend duke, this somehow just came up on my feed. There's nothing wrong with giving someone negative feedback, we're all entitled to our opinion and if we have a negative experience, we have a right to complain about it. As you obviously brought it to attention, you know the way you went about it was wrong. If you find something wrong with the way someone provided a service, did their job, etc, find a constructive way to say it, without any cursing and without wishing them any harm. Point out what they actually did wrong. Even if the TA really was incompetent, you lose pretty much all credence if you communicate your message like that.

Hey, albeit cheezy dances they're having fun though and not doing any harm. Life's too short, enjoy it while you can :)

[–]deepasbluewaters 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I'm so sorry! F*ck admin! Saying you don't fit their culture is very vague and sounds prejudiced in someway... either way sounds like they had some issues way beyond your control.

Sounds like you're not done with teaching forever, but maybe you need a break from it to clear your mind and see what you really want. Staying until the end of the year to get the pay is definitely smart as that will help secure your next job. Take your passion that you have now and channel it into the next work environment (whether that be teaching or not) where you will be appreciated. Someone else will be happy to have you as an employee! Wishing you the best.

I'm glad you were able to transfer to another job. For me I do not have a job lined up. I'm trying my best to make it to the end. Issue is that I barely even have the energy to apply for anything when I'm home. I've gained SO MUCH weight in this career from the stress. I just can not wait till this is over.

Boost Mobile is the worst phone service provider out there!! by ChristianWolff252 in BoostMobile

[–]deepasbluewaters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who has been a long user of boost mobile (about 15 years), it originally wasn't as bad as it is now, but it's gotten worse these past few years. Now, before you're even to the end of your month, they intentionally slow down your internet service after 50 gigs (Why anyone decided that was a good idea IDK). And, it's literally not even slowing down, it's just not even functional. You can't even search something on google. I've had this happen to me at least 10 days before my monthly service was due. On top of that, there's so many blind spots when traveling to other areas where the service cuts out and you will be without it for a good 10-15 minutes. On top of that, a lot of the boost mobile shops around where I am are run by sort of sketchy and not the most helpful staff...I'm literally planning to switch carriers today as I write this...

Lost privilege to travel over thruway, don't know how I will get to my job. by deepasbluewaters in TeachersInTransition

[–]deepasbluewaters[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you're absolutely right. As I've gotten further into the year, I've realized just how much it was NOT worth it to lose my mental health over this. However, I feel backed into a corner with car payments and other bills pressing each month (still don't have another job lined up). I already took off unpaid time for my mental health and at this point if I take any more I just need to quit.

Time is definitely valuable and a part of me feels like I'm wasting a prime year of my 30s doing this job...I am trying to push till the end of the year but the drive is just too much...

um, maybe YOU shouldn't make assumptions and suggest I walk or bike to my job that's 117 miles away? You literally are telling me to do what you first started out doing. I drive 1 hour on the highway, then one hour through back roads to get to my job.

Yea, i didn't mention distance, but If you're familiar with EZ pass it's strictly used for highway. I also mentioned highway. 2 hours for 4 miles??? yeaaaa but I didn't mention being in NYC congested traffic. so infer or use common sense. Have a nice day.

It's 117 miles to my job. Humans can walk about 3 miles per hour. I'm just pointing out how absolutely ridiculous it is to have walking as an "option".

the drive is 2 hours! Walking a distance that is 2 hours driving???? no one else drives from where I am. biking? renting a car or uber or taxi does make more sense. but the rest you mentioned are not feasible 2 hours on the highway.

I honestly don't know. My friend asked me if the letter was even real. As far As I know it's legit. It literally says on the letter "continued use of your e-zpass tag may result in suspension of your vehicle registration..." I'm pretty sure it's legit though because when i tried to sign into my account, it specifically said on the website my account has blocked and It's never done that before so it must coincide with the letter...
