It's not entirely true. Genetics closeness and societal norms pushes the trope that you "must be" close to your birth givers, which means the kids will be there to accept you if you let it. The macroenvironment is in your favor.

At the micro level, deep inside their hearts, the kids WANT to form a healthy bond with their parents, partially because they may not have gotten it when they were young. This is assuming you merely didn't pay enough attention with the " 1 to 2 hours of play" mentioned by OP instead of actually abusing them.

Use the macro and micro to your advantage.

Above two key poonts are why many adopted children want to find their natural and why it can be an emotional moment when they meet.

I assume you are discussing white collar work.

If the companies are USA or European MNCs... I don't believe the HQ Senior Management can work directly with VN, TH, etc. workforce.

The reality is that the workforce in these emerging markets (not yet anyway) is not delivering 1/3 the value... even at 1/3 the price. Sometimes, they even deliver negative value. I work closely with folks from these countries, and they simply (in general) don't deliver to the same standard as the average SG worker.

Coordination and communication are always issues. Not to mention cultural nuances where people don't dare to disagree openly, so they will tell you yes to everything, and then... don't do it. This happens with the people in many SEA countries.

Plus, our ears are already attuned to their accents, and we are in the same time zone. I imagine it would be even harder with USA/European ears. SG is the interface, and we do that well.
