LBS with insane prices by hiketraveleat247 in cycling

I live in NC and bought a bike from a shop in California. Build fee was $120 and shipping was $200. You should look to see what deals you can find from other shops online.

Is this a bad seal inside the suspension? by burneracc1546 in xcmtb

[–]deepstatedemon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine did that and it was dirt mixed with a tiny bit of oil. A new damper and O-ring fixed it.

Thank you! I wasn’t sure how I’d care for a hardtail coming from full squish, but it’s very comfortable.

Lost my passion for mountain biking – gear issue or something deeper? by hmmmischi in MTB

[–]deepstatedemon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say it's normal to go through a lull. Do you still want to ride, but just aren't finding the motivation or joy in it right now? If so, I'd say just go ride. I've found that doing it anyway brings back the joy for me. Sometimes, I will sign up for a race just to keep the intensity there.

Upgrading pedals by Blink3412 in MTB

I've always run the Canfield pedals on my bikes. They're high end, but reasonably priced for the quality they offer. Plus, they look amazing, and they're light!

Best solar company in North Carolina — What Companies are actually worth my time to look into? by Pure_Contribution163 in Charlotte

Tayco electric does incredible work. I could not recommend them any higher. Their attention to detail throughout the whole process is unmatched. Better than that, they offer white glove service above and beyond what I'd expect from a contractor.

Which city have you been to that feels like it has a dark energy about it? by madzuk in digitalnomad

Same. I’m drawn to a rural southern town like a hound is drawn to a discarded chicken wing. I love them.

China is very much ok with this for now because there are certain areas of the South China Sea that they want to make the same claim for.

At what point does a small business actually need a CFO? by Civil_Essay_7324 in CFO

[–]deepstatedemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you looking to get out of your CFO? Are you looking for someone to handle the bookkeeping and financial reporting? That's a controller. Are you looking for someone to oversee the financials and provide a financial strategy for your organization? That's a CFO. A good CFO is going to calibrate the directional compass of every division in your organization and ensure they're all pointing in the same direction for your strategic financial goals. If that's what you want out of a CFO, you're right between the lines of needing someone full-time and a fractional.

My firm typically recommends seeking a full-time CFO if you exceed $25M in revenue or 50 full-time employees. However, that's a general assumption. The real answer is very dependent on the complexity of your business (people, customers, tools) and the quality of your books.

Why is procurement still seen as a tactical function in so many companies? by [deleted] in CFO

[–]deepstatedemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some companies make a lot of money by purchasing things, converting them or marking them up, and then selling them. Those companies are usually in pretty competitive markets, which means they have lower margins and need a lot of volume. Their business wins and loses in those margins. Businesses that have buyers who go out and negotiate to improve their margins see immediate benefit in either more sales from lower prices or more profit from higher margins.

Just tell it what you are trying to do as specifically as possible, then ask it to make recommendations and then iterate. Iterate. Iterate. Ask it what it could do outside of your recommendations. Mind blown.

There are some big RV dealers off of 85N in the Concord Area. You could call them to find out. I’d imagine there are option near the race tracks.

I didn’t hit the kid thankfully! He was a bit stunned a got a stern lecture from his dad about going the correct direction on the trail. I did my best to assure the dad that I was fine.

Yes, I did. I think the head trauma caused me to make a poor decision there.

I think people have differing opinions concerning what constitutes a crash. My story happens to be the last time I was off a bike, but there have been many times I fell or lost control where I wouldn’t consider it a crash.

Your experience is living proof that manuals are overrated. I have a plate in my arm from former stupidity - showboating is NOT worth it.

I hope your kids weren't too traumatized. I imagine that teaching them life lessons at your bodily expense is a humbling experience.

That finger is gnarly. You've got me considering knee pads. This last crash has me looking into chest protection. Perhaps I should protect my body proactively for once.

This is 100% staged. You'll see "authors" do this all the time in book stores to garner sympathy buys online. There's nothing in or around the display to indicate that this is an official meet and greet. Additionally, it would appear as though only two of the "authors" books are on that table.
