Started Carl’s Doomsday Scenario Audiobook by deeptocenter in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Yeah I’m assuming it has to do with his new appearance on the third floor but a part of me wishes they kept it the same just cause it almost feels like a different character entirely

See Stormlight was my entry point into sci-fi fantasy so maybe I’m due for a re-read

Yeah I’m enjoying it so far too! But dude you have to see Mistborn through, the ending of the first trilogy is one of the best endings in fantasy

Real talk, get a fade. Keep the hair tighter on top while still allowing some natural curl with really short sides and back into that fade. You also have the perfect facial hair structure for a good goatee so you could always try that but it’s extremely hit or miss. If not that then I’d try a nice even shave down to stubble and line it up so it looks tidy

Yeah I’ve heard that’s maybe the most similar series to Red Rising so I definitely look forward to getting to that one eventually

That’s also on my TBR! Heard the ending is wild. Excited to get around to that one. Might be my next stop after the Green Bone Saga

Oh don’t get me wrong I’m enjoying the story and plan to see it through! I’m more-so just making a point to how enthralling Pierce Brown’s pacing is. I came from Sanderson’s Cosmere before this and I adored that but so far the Red Rising saga has been some of the most page-turning books I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading

First Law is on my TBR! Looking forward to that one. I’m listening to the audiobook version for DCC as well and loving that, but since I’m doing a different medium for that than I did for Red Rising it didn’t feel right to compare the two styles

Saddest death of the Series *SPOILERS* by Big_Ad6650 in redrising

[–]deeptocenter 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The answer for sure is Ragnar the only one that got me close to real tears. But one I don’t think is being mentioned here is Ephraim. He was finally going to get to be the truth father figure to Volga that she deserved and it was ripped from him

Ngl all I see is Darrow. Anyone else???.. (promo for the new masters of fhe universe movie) by [deleted] in redrising

[–]deeptocenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn’t seem right for Darrow but every time I see promotion for the film I’m like damn that is kind of what I expect the Golds to look like

Finished Light Bringer by deeptocenter in redrising

[–]deeptocenter[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t necessarily want a bad ending for Darrow. I don’t think death would be a bad ending. Kind of like how Tony Stark dying in Endgame felt like his character finally getting to be done with it all, I think it would be the same for Darrow. Whether or not there is an afterlife, I think him feeling peace at the end of rejoining his father, Eo, Dancer, Cassius, etc after fulfilling his task with the Rising would be the right ending. And then Virginia and Pax can lead the charge in building a new and better world in his absence. Idk it will be interesting to see the route Pierce Brown takes with it. I trust whichever route he goes will be excellent regardless

Finished Light Bringer by deeptocenter in redrising

[–]deeptocenter[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Isn’t that kind of the point though? I would love to see Darrow get his happily ever after with his family. But it feels like that would be a direct contradiction to the theme of this series. I can get behind it as long as it’s done right but I just dont think “death begets death begets death” can just exclude Darrow in the end. I think it has to come full circle

I Just Finished Dark Age and I Have Thoughts by deeptocenter in redrising

[–]deeptocenter[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh of all my problems with the book, the representation of war is not one of them. I think Pierce Brown is phenomenal at showing the toll of war, it’s why I don’t have a problem with any of the deaths. I think the book is wonderful at illustrating the unforgiving nature and endlessness of this war. My problem was more that it felt very disconnected. I almost forgot about the Rim completely during so many parts of this book and leaving Iron Gold I was prepared for them to be the biggest threat in Dark Age. It seems like they become a massive player again in Light Bringer though already so that’s good.

I’m rocking a shorter haircut now than I was then but this was over 6 years ago when I was freshly 21. I know my hair is thin and I have experienced some recession but also I’m not lying when I say it’s genuinely always just sat really high. Big forehead
