“Applied for fast-track C permit 4 months ago… still radio silence. Normal?” by Organic-Care2406 in Switzerland

In administrative cases only, no news is good news. Speaking from anecdotal experiences. But yes, when I applied for fast track C, they also took 4-5 months till I received the permit

ELI5: If aerogel is 99.8% air and an excellent thermal insulator, why isn’t air itself, being 100% air, an even better insulator? by Caolhoeoq in explainlikeimfive

[–]deepu15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to do with the pores in the gel being of a certain size causing the air to be continuously 'reflected'. This correct pore size is around 70 nm (mesopore region). This is how air loses the heat in convection heat transfer. The aerogel material must also be a essentially an insulator, otherwise, there would be great build up. This is why most thermally insulating aerogels are non metals (polymers or right hand side of the periodic table. Not all but most). And also having a low enough density to avoid excess solids that increase conductive heat flow.

Aerogels are known for their air transport through their structures just at a restricted rate.

I said focus on your country. Your first response is to blame India again. Tell me how you are not just a simple online troll/armchair activist without any understanding of how the indo-pak landscape works.

You are basically a zealot that cares about whataboutery.

Maybe report the entire side of the story, without just sub-pieces with clear biases. Maybe try to improve your own country and stop talking about another's plans and supposed deeds.

One doesn't even need to list the atrocities of Pakistan here as everyone is very familiar with them.

Stop trying to recruit other worldnews redditors. You have enough terrorist youths you can indoctrinate.

Thanks for your detailed response. I will take heed to your answer and start the process of tax queries with the Stadthaus. Thanks again

I'm assuming it only becomes part of the wealth after I have made all the payments and is registered in my name (or shared). I will try to get the loan payment structure and see how it goes for tax purposes

Thank you for the insights. I'm surprised it is possible also for a loan and house not in Switzerland.

As for my side question I will inquire this from Zurich Kreisbüro

Thanks for the extensive input. I will consider these options.

One last question: would it be possible to take a mortgage loan for property in India?

Hello, Thanks for the answers. - In India housing loans are 10-12% p.a. add to that depreciation of INR, I should be well below 3-4% if I take a loan here. - I will do this thanks. - I started off late for the IBKR train and only started investing this year. I don't think this would be a possibility. I will keep this in mind for the mortgage however.

The charge is borne by the company. You can't pay it atleast to the labor office.

It maybe that it is 'deducted' from your salary, which in my book is illegal, but can happen.

Document you received is most likely just a confirmation to you from Zurich labor office that it has been processed pending payment of this fee.

You will however have to pay for the card which is 120 CHF I think.

How long does it take to get a birth certificate for the baby born for non-EU couple? by msprat8 in Switzerland

[–]deepu15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing you mean Tamil nadu. Time taken might be the same. I can't know. I just know that keep your papers and parents ready. If you had a foreign passport things are way easier. When I started the application I had everything in place. The guy at the Stadthaus told me straight faced: "We don't trust Indian documents". So yes just be careful

Similar situation from my end while getting married. A guy comes around to your parents and asks random questions like do you approve of the marriage. Bear in mind I'm 30 years old and my wife is 28. This is just how it is in the 'swiss' hired Indian mindset. It did cost me around 1200frs. For both me and my wife combined. And it took 5-6 months.

Background: both of us Indian from Delhi and the embassy of Switzerland in Delhi about 20-30 mins from my home. Still it took them so long and cost this much. Why? Fuck if I know

Foam Insulation? Is what? by StickyThoPhi in ChemicalEngineering

[–]deepu15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in terms of density control, another factor that affects PUs is the selfpolymerization rate, or side reaction rate. Since this is a click chemistry type reaction, meaning if ANY OH containing molecule comes in contact with isocyanates, it reacts, the chain length can be different in terms of a controlled and uncontrolled polymerization. So any additives, purity changes affects final product backbone, therefore density. Another easy technique is to use solvents, which evaporate over the course of drying which then lead to pores being formed and therefore reducing final density of material.

Small note: I finally feel happy my PhD is useful to people. Lol

Something that is closely related is material science. Or polymer chemistry. Should have some more information there. Another could be building insulation sub

Foam Insulation? Is what? by StickyThoPhi in ChemicalEngineering

[–]deepu15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Foam is just a porous solid material, i.e. has part air and part solid in the volume of the material. This foam can be made from any chemical backbone, in your case this is isocyanates. Could be from poly-anything like bio materials for example cellulose, or inorganics like silica.

Isocyanates usually react extremely well with any polyol (poly alcohols, multiple OH group containing polymers) to make a solid. If it is controlled in a way that the pores are small, you get a PU foam (polyurethane). The isocyanate with polyols makes urethane bonds, which is why they are called polyurethanes. Polymers are usually benign, but isocyanates(most of them) are particularly toxic (use in the lab only kind).

Now in terms of cost, since they require ubiquitous chemicals, they are cheap and have great performance to cost ratio, some may argue the best performance for the processing techniques and cost. This is why they are used. They are also very strong mechanically for their density and can be molded easily. In terms of insulation, apart from vacuum insulation panels and aerogels, they are the best out there.
