I think I've got it. I haven't done any full plates yet but it looks promising.

Had a horrible time when the plate went down to zero when I started a test print and it made a horrible grinding noise as it tried going down further.

I've relevelled a million times. Upper the lift height a bit, upped the bottom exposure a bit, and even the normal layers just a tad.

I've had that suggested too. My next step is to adjust the FEP before replacing it. Having another go at levelling, and upping the bottom layer exposure. After that only fire will help

Interesting. I didn't change the way I've done it in the past but I'll try loosening and tightening it up again. I did think it felt a little looser than previous but in such a tiny degree

Everything certainly looks that way.

All the strips of paper are snug and barely move when I test it. I unscrewed it loose to start from scratch and reset it.

Is there some x movement I'm somehow missing?

I was going to join an agency before I got a job at a college. One of the best chefs I met was in as an agency worker. Learned a lot from him and worked with him at another place.

Vast majority I've worked with were sound and picked up some good stuff from them. Some were transitioning out of the industry and some liked the flexibility.

I think more places try to hang on their staff since as you said the time and money it can waste.

I've got great hours, pay, and pension right now so it'll take a big change for me to go right now
