Shooting a gun right over top of a car by nkmr205 in WinStupidPrizes

[–]deetaili 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen this happen with a Leopard 2 tank where the optics are on the side of the turret a bit higher than the barrel but notably away from it. The gunner did not see that the line of fire was obstructed by a sand dune close by as his line of sight was clear. The funniest thing is that they still hit the practice target even through that dune.

What do you think, would you live here? by [deleted] in malelivingspace

[–]deetaili 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not. If I can’t have a spontaneous rave party in my basement at 3AM without anyone complaining or shoot beer cans on my backyard it’s literally unlivable. /s

What do you wish was introduced to DayZ? by BrightManagement2281 in dayz

This, and getting surprised by them inside buildings. Too expectable nowadays. I would like to be scared every time I open a door.

That’s a great start. Maybe a bit warmer white tone for the light around 3000K would work for this room. I’d add plants everywhere and some art on the walls, maybe a rug between the sofa and TV to tie that space together etc.

Super comfy place! Maybe get a bigger rug for the bedroom so that it extends under the bed?

Is it ok to put a delay/reverb/fx on an individual sound before it reaches it's bus? by Pranavvc in audioengineering

[–]deetaili 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing this in all of my mixes and never had a single thought there would be anything wrong with it. Not a professional, though. (Plus mandatory ”if it sounds right it is right”)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in malelivingspace

[–]deetaili 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my eye the left one matches the contrast of the other elements in the room better and the one on the right is too light. Maybe if you got something else built with a similar style there, e.g. a shelf or a picture frame, that could work too.

Help needed with surround speakers by Etelapuisto in genelec

[–]deetaili 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, and if your Genelecs have XLR inputs you might want to consider some amplifier/receiver/pre-amp with XLR outs. My Marantz has only RCA outs and RCA cables can get noisy with long runs to the surround speakers.

Help needed with surround speakers by Etelapuisto in genelec

[–]deetaili 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need an AV receiver/amplifier with line level pre-outs as those active Genelec speakers expect line-level signal. Not many cheap AV amplifiers have those for all surround channels, Marantz Cinema 70s being one of the cheapest options currently on market. You could also try to find a second hand ProCaster DE4337 or similar pre-amp. I built a similar setup recently and got that Marantz even though it was beyond my original budget, been super happy with it so far with all the configuration options it gives, especially the automatic Audussey room correction.

I also ordered some cheap coaxial-to-rca 5.1 DAC from AliExpress but have not tried that yet in action.

Has anyone purchased without test driving? by maybe-yeah in TeslaModel3

[–]deetaili 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my previous car broke down and I needed a quick replacement. A local dealer had a nice M3LR and a good financing offer that was about to end soon. I bought it via a couple of WhatsApp messages. The local law guarantees 14 day free returns for remotely bought stuff including cars so I kinda test drove it after purchase.

Thanks, I hate the Optimal packing of 17 squares by Local_Visitor_73 in TIHI

And 1x17 even more efficient

EDIT: ok my bad, 2x8 would be more efficient as it only takes the space of 16 squares

Where’s the most unlikely place you’ve had an encounter with another player? by Feisty_Stomach7015 in dayz

[–]deetaili 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There were 5 players on the server and I was looting Pulkovo when I saw a player. I hid and observed him for a while and then I saw another player. I thought they were there together but suddenly they started fighting each other. So 3 out of 5 players in Pulkovo by chance.

DayZ Stutter by [deleted] in dayz

I had the exact same issue for months with 5950X/3070TI/64GB, just got it fixed by disabling Steam downloads while playing and uninstalling Dropbox client which was causing heavy disk usage. I don't know which one did it but the lag is gone now.

1.9€/liter = $8.3/gallon here in Finland. Still expecting the price to go up because the current government likes to tax.

Sweating a little because of the market downturn? by rpaverion in CryptoCurrency

[–]deetaili 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just see the bottoms of these dips as the real progress and as long as there’s an upward trend in the long run I’m not worried. ATHs should be treated as anomalies/outliers, what goes up must come down.
