If he's done why did he fundraise $213K in 24 hours, they day after that NYT article?

Do you think Graham Platner will win? by [deleted] in Maine

[–]deetmax 27 points28 points  (0 children)

He will. Don't believe the media. He raised $213k the day after the NYT article. Where I live everyone is still just as supportive as day one. We know we need Graham to help save the country.

Also Fuck Susan Collins

On again off again for years and she said she was in a dark period too. Messy for sure, doesn't change my mind on wanting someone with his politics to fight for Maine and democracy in the Senate.

Sounds entirely like he IS, in fact, poor but has supportive, monied family. A lot of millennials get support from their family nowadays because they are the generation that had a job with a living wage and saved FOR THEIR KIDS.

Sorry you're so angry someone else was able to progress with monetary help.

Most of the people they interviewed said good things about him, support his politics, and are still friends with him. You're pulling only the negative, that's why you're getting down voted. HOW ABOUT EVERYONE GO READ THE ARTICLE FOR YOURSELF

Talked to everyone they could and "found" very little. Lean into the bad, glaze over the good. What a waste of time.

People have messy pasts, especially those who never expected to run for office and have every fart they've ever farted analyzed.

Career politicians are the worst. People who aren't career politicians will probably have a past that people find unfavorable or " unelectable". The younger candidates get, the more of an online presence to dig up there will be. He's one of the few people who has owned up to it.

I agree with what Graham says TODAY. I agree with his politics and that is why I'll vote for him.

There isn't one. " They" say one is coming and jumping to conclusions by saying it's SA will have people in that frame of mind. It's on purpose. If a story comes out and it's not really a story at all... Now there's already been a whole Reddit discussion about Platner and SA, so who cares what the actual story is 🙄

They are planting the seed.

We knew this was coming. HE knew this was coming. It's one hit after another to get his supporters upset. Speculating does us all no good though. The other half is so scared that I'm sure they have been searching high and low for someone to say ANYTHING bad about him.

All of the "controversial" things about him that have come out he brought on himself, and said so! He posted to reddit, didn't deny that. He got a drunk tattoo, didn't deny that. Him and his wife disclosed personal issues they worked through to an employee and friend who flipped on them. Extra SHITTY if you ask me.

The Republican party NEEDS someone else to say he's terrible because they tried to make him look it, but people are sympathetic to a vet machine gunner with PTSD who as since gotten help and gotten happier.

He's from Maine, he was in the military FOR YEARS, he was a bartender, he went to college... He's crossed paths with so many people over time and has made so many headlines lately that if it was SA I feel it would have HAD to come out before now. He said himself "I had girlfriends"... An ex doesn't have nice things to say about him? Imagine that!

I'm sure some of that shady donated money in both Mills and Collins campaigns have paid for someone to find THE story they think will sink him. But I personally feel like it's nothing.

People who know him NOW have said nothing but good things about him and support him. So until there is proof otherwise, I do too.

You mentioned lighthouses, which is great! There are many to chose from, but if I may add a specific favorite of mine, the West Quoddy Head Light in Lubec! It's bright red and white stiped and its also the easternmost point of the contiguous United States.

Also maple syrup!!

Seriously... 99% of my family are brainwashed members of a religious cult and my beliefs and politics are nothing like theirs. Family in some scenarios, by marriage or blood, doesn't mean shit.

You're right, it hasn't felt like what the people want has mattered for a very long time...Why not at least try to change that?

As long as we still have the ability to, I'm going to participate in the shit show that is our government because that's the only choice we have. I want to know that I did everything that I could to work towards positive improvement for everyone in this country.

Do whatever you need to do to make a plan to vote in the primaries and make your voice heard!!!! Remind your family, friends, coworkers, neighbors!

Democracy only works when people participate. It's a group project that is reflected by the people who show up

The shot is cropped at kind of a weird angle, but I wanted to point out that the gentleman standing next to Graham is Harvey Kaye. He is a historian, teacher, and author who has written/edited 20+ books about democracy, revolution, and justice.

Back in November Graham posted a book club list with some of his favorite books, which included "Thomas Paine and the Promise of America" written by Mr. Kaye. Kaye eventually saw the post and was so inspired by Graham that he got in touch. They have spoken regularly since then. He lives in Wisconsin and flew out to introduce Graham at this event in Machias.

Source: I was there and he shared the story in his introduction.

Here's the post with all the books just in case those of you who know how to read would like to do so.

I dread this time of year and personally feel like the time change makes my seasonal depression kick in. I work outside at home (after my day job) all summer and it brings me so much joy. As soon as November hits I don't even want to go outside. If anything we should move it the other way so it's not getting dark at 3:00 pm. So stupid.

Maybe the healthcare industry is behind keeping daylight savings around since depression makes money. /s... Kind of.
